Yes, I think so. I love that in a player.

At times Barnes does display good control and a deft touch (but not often). He also scores the odd good goal, but again not often. His main contribution is to foul or win free kicks. In my opinion he is very limited as a Prem player and would struggle to get in any other team in the division.

I have no idea how anyone can think his ability to shoot is much better than Gray??

If Gray gets proper service this season he is streets ahead of Barnes. Vokes is also a far more accomplished player as I am sure Walters will be.

I agree he might be useful to come off the bench and unsettle some teams late in the game but I would be worried to see him starting games.

I remember this well. Barnes made a hash of the pass to JBG forcing him too wide. Fortunately JGB did brilliantly to get there and wrap is foot around it to st up Barnes for a good finish.

He does a job, and he fits into the team work ethic.

I've no problem with him, but to me he's not as good as Vokes.

Some others thought that about his pass. But I've always thought the pass created the necessary space and crossing angle. My favourite moment last season.

Still glad he's at the club. Definitely worth a place on the bench. Defenders don't like his ... attention.

He played it in front of jbg to run onto. Perfect weighted pass. Both running full pelt in a 2 on 1. You obviously play the ball forward with the defender on the back foot as barnes did there.

Definitely wasn't perfectly weighted. Even the commentators said so at the time. It mattered not though. Great cross and great finish. You can't help but love Ashley Barnes!

It definitely was well weighted. And I reckon if he had played it any differently we wouldn't have scored. Great move from start to finish.

A type player very necessary to how we play at the moment. If we are to stay up this season and start to progress away from our current style then he'll become more expendable. For this year, and probably next(if we stay up or are relegated) we need his particular skill-set.

It was a great goal to watch and a good finish from Barnes, but I knew watching it live that he'd got the pass wrong. As I said far to wide and JGB did exceptionally well to change direction and get in such a great cross.

How can it have been far to wide if jbg delivered an inch perfect cross without taking a touch?

If the pass hadnt taken JBG wide he wouldn't have the space or angle for the cross. We wouldn't have scored. Excellent pass.

The bad pass actually made a better angle for the cross, was a great cross from JBG though.

Not a bad pass but not what he intended, so therefore a bad pass. But also a good pass

I think we can all agree that that pass was an integral part of a decisive move that turned one point we were in severe danger of losing into a valuable three points against a relegation rival.
Thank whatever providence made them hit the posts rather than the back of the net, just moments later.

A bit like Scott Arfield at Ewood, I'll never be able to think rationally about Ash because of that Palace winner.

Seemed bigger than those famous wins against City, Utd and Liverpool at the time.

Anyway, I'd keep him if only to ensure we won't have to play against him. Nobody enjoys that.

This.

Clearly not what he intended so a good bad pass :D

Really good skill by JGB to reach and control it. Good finish from Barnes.
