Burnley spending.
Burnley spending.
Is it me or has SD been given a reduced budget this window? Are you operating caution after narrowly avoiding the drop?
Re: Burnley spending.
Certainly looks that way, I guess we'll find out.

There is no budget. Within reason Dyche can spend whatever he likes realistically and sensibly.

Re: Burnley spending.
I dont think the problem is the board it is Sean Dyche. He just does not like spending money.
Re: Burnley spending.
Not that you need to spend massively to get the right players, as I've stated before, but nonetheless I'm surprised Keane in particular hasn't been replaced before the season has started with a substantial purchase.Royboyclaret wrote:There is no budget. At least our staff have job security and will be payed this month, can Rovers or Bolton say the same.We already have a decent premier league squad, so just need tweaking and good back-ups.

You're obviously not a Burnley fan if you're surprised that one of our star performers hasn't been replaced.

Keane will be replaced before the end of August. Just waiting for West Brom to conclude their business.
Re: Burnley spending.
So you expect to sign a west brom centre back? Fair enough. What sort of price would that be?Royboyclaret wrote:Keane will be replaced before the end of August. Just waiting for West Brom to conclude their business.

Re: Burnley spending.
I think everyone on here knows which player I'm referring to.
Also don't be surprised to see another player no-one has yet considered arrive before the deadline. If it happens that will break our transfer record but, to repeat, Dyche has no budget so there would be no problem. The manager has the 100% trust of the Board so long as he operates sensibly.

Re: Burnley spending.
All in all, we have balanced and added experienced but not jaded players. The loss of our young centreback is the area of risk. However, the balance is - do we give Tarkowski and Long (our newest Irish international, after less than a handful of prem appearances) a chance to stake a claim - or do we sign that centreback noted above? I think the latter. Sean Dyche may not or do both. We can afford it.

If Dawson is the centre back, I'd be more curious as to ask what position the mystery purchase plays?Reecey1987 wrote:Will this player your talking about roy strengthen our starting 11 ? I dont mean dawson either

Re: Burnley spending.
IMO, you are a successful goalscorer off top 10 potential. They make so much difference at prem level, trust me. Think what difference anelka made to Bolton back in the day. They nearly made champions league.
25m you got for Keane spent on a goalscorer, prob from abroad, is what I'd be doing.

Re: Burnley spending.
Not good enough so far simple as. Big windfall from last season, and sold Keano for £25m. Dyche should still have £30m minimum left to spend IMO

Garlick said we spent £32m last season n we would spend more this time, plus the Keane money I would of expected £50-£60m to have been spent but only £20m so far.

You scout round the European better leagues and look for successful scorers with contracts running down, hence cheaper.Vegas Claret wrote:I don't know what you want Saxo, it's common knowledge we matched the PSG offer for Neymar but he chose Paris because they have a tower

Wow, there are people on here that do actually think that Kevin Long is a viable option in the Premier League. I sincerely hope that our recruitment network runs a little further than hanging around for WBA to sell us Dawson, is this the big plan ?

We've spent more money than at least 4 or 5 other Premier League teams. I don't think it can be properly judged until the end of the transfer window tbh.Saxoman wrote:Is it me or has SD been given a reduced budget this window? Are you operating caution after narrowly avoiding the drop?

Can't imagine there were too many itching to spend on Walters and Bardsley. Not about how much we've spent, rather have we spent it wisely ?
