Callum Robinson
Being linked by sky's Peter O'Rouke (along with a number of other clubs) to Preston's Callum Robinson.
Re: Callum Robinson
Who? Never heard of him.
Re: Callum Robinson
Seems a decent buy for the future at the right price.

His goals last year. Quick and quite strong for a skillful player. Some great goals and decent with his head. Also a few assists last year.

Re: Callum Robinson
Promising young player.
Not sure if he's ready to step up to the Premier League, but he's got lots of pace, a bit of quality and he seems to score a decent range of goals. Saw him against Arsenal for PNE last season and he stood out then. By all accounts he's got a decent attitude too.
Even if the plan were to sign him and loan him back to Preston this season, he could be an excellent medium term option to replace Gray next summer - but he could also be a really handy impact sub for us this season.
Will know Lowton and Westwood too from his Villa days.

Re: Callum Robinson
I liked the look of him when I saw him on TV a few times for little Preston last season.
Might be a decent prospect to try out. It's always good to share our wealth with the little people and allow any good youngsters saddled within the poorer side of Lancashire a chance to progress.

Can't see him being a regular starter, but he would be a great option in the last 20, if we are chasing/trying to win a game, depends how much knobbers are asking, wouldn't go above 3-4 million tops.

Looks a good option. Like Spice says scores all different goals and looks to have pace.
Hope hes a bit sharper than this in the box... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-uVeHL-EF4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Callum Robinson
Plays wide left for PNE, certainly talented but i'm not sure he's good enough right now but he's certainly something differernt to what we have.
Re: Callum Robinson
Some decent young players at PNE - I like the look of Sean Maguire, who they picked up for next to nowt, too.

A good age, and certainly talented. Worth a punt for a couple of million, as he's unlike anything we've currently got.

Agreed if it didn't work out, we would probably break even, by selling him back to another championship club.UpTheBeehole wrote:A good age, and certainly talented. Worth a punt for a couple of million, as he's unlike anything we've currently got.

Got to agree with you there a blue.. It's dire, but it will be a good squad for the championship this time next year!

There have been a few mentioned on here in the past few days.
The Board have lost their way again, thinking only of the present. We've been here before, it invariably ends in failure.

ABC- I give you the names Nick Pickering and Ian Helliwell. Unless you're too young to remember the late 80s/early 90s then you're 100% wrong in this being the worst recruitment policy....ablueclaret wrote:Our recruitment policy is the worst I've ever known it, not a hint of excitement, dull dull dull.

Re: Callum Robinson
We've signed some no risk experienced players and Charlie Taylor who was regarded as the best full back in the championship. I have a feeling if he was called Carletto Taylorino and we'd signed him from abroad your perception would be very different

It is because we have the resources and position to have brought in some exciting young talent and we have wasted that opportunity. Of course we've brought in worse but given the opportunity presented to us this is the most disappointing window I have ever experienced.

you do realise that in the history of the last 10 or so transfer windows that the majority of transfers happen in the last few days ? I'll be amazed if we don't break our transfer record again

Last season at least we tried to buy a bit of quality even if as yet it has found it hard to express itself. But we didn't purchase any young players then. SD doesn't do young talent.

Re: Callum Robinson
Well the exception is Keane but I think that is the point, it appears you really do have to be exceptional as a younger player to get a look in. I don't really class signings at around 24 as particularly "young" (Gray, Hendrick, Brady, Taylor ?) in football terms.ablueclaret wrote:Last season at least we tried to buy a bit of quality even if as yet it has found it hard to express itself. It's the early 20's signings we don't seem to do (Ings, Trippier, Mee, Austin), really do think we need two or three in this window to add some balance to a squad that has enough old heads now. If we're relegated with an old team you can only forsee problems.
In short, where's the succession planning ?

We were told our policy was to bring in young players from other clubs and develop them it was a successful policy, that has now been cast aside.

Perhaps the club is busy researching your list of McThistle, McSporran and Rab C Nesbitt, the highland league and the untapped potential it promises.ablueclaret wrote:There is no succession planning.
