When has the club publically opposed it?

Probably not now but certainly in 2015. The club are actually on our side but have their hands tied. I don't believe the Blackburn people have been anything like as supportive.aggi wrote:Have we, I don't remember ever seeing a statement from the club opposing it. Can you point me in the right direction, cheers?

One impression you get out of all this is that the police have never gone out of their way to try and keep the inconvenience for supporters to the minimum.ClaretTony wrote:Probably not now but certainly in 2015. The club definitely havent publically behind changing it. Privately maybe. Absolutely not publically.
Re: 2017/18: Blackburn Rovers v Burnley – Ticket Information
I don't remember anything in 2015 and google isn't throwing anything up. They may have opposed it in private meetings but I would be very surprised to find out that they released a public statement opposing it that everybody missed.ClaretTony wrote:Probably not now but certainly in 2015. Comments in the press for sure. But the police we dealt with in 2015 were very positive in moving things on too. I think it is different coppers now though.aggi wrote:I don't remember anything in 2015 and google isn't throwing anything up. But I really don't believe we've much chance of changing this until we are trouble free. Weve been trying to improve it and it was certainly much better last time with the various pick ups and options.

Not so. Was so much improved last time and the police worked hard with the supporters reps to try and improve it.Spijed wrote:One impression you get out of all this is that the police have never gone out of their way to try and keep the inconvenience for supporters to the minimum.

Correct and exactly why it would be very disappointing if the same arrangements aren't being put in place this time.ClaretTony wrote:Not so. Was so much improved last time and the police worked hard with the supporters reps to try and improve it.

Not at all. Was very encouraging in 2015 and the whole operation was hugely improved. We've long since realised that there is no quick fix and so getting improvements has been an objective. I thought that the police we dealt with last time were far better and more understanding and took on board some of our ideas.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Like someone taking your house off you and then thanking them for giving you a tent.

What trouble have the police claimed happened in the 2005 fa cup replay? I went back on the train and there certainly wasn't any trouble. Escorting 5 or 600 fans all the way to Blackburn station might be a pain in the arse but you can't claim it as fan disorder.ClaretTony wrote:It's not the clubs and I can assure you our club are not in favour of it. But the police will tell you a very different story of 2005 re there being no trouble.
I hate it too. We had taken some strides forward two seasons ago but there has been no fan consultation this time sadly although I appreciate the short notice. Will now await details of the transport but hope all the improvements from last time have not been withdrawn.
There has been far more trouble with toilets getting wrecked and windows getting kicked through in the bubble games.

Re: 2017/18: Blackburn Rovers v Burnley – Ticket Information
I do recall a footnote on an article regarding ticket news for the last Ewood fixture stating the club was continuing to work hard to lessen the need for the arrangements for future fixtures. I think David Baldwin also mentioned in a fan's forum that Burnley wanted to move away from the coaches but Blackburn still supported the method. I may have dreamt both of these but they do ring true.
The coach departure time will be key. Workers can't be expected to make it for anything earlier than 5.30pm so hopefully common sense will prevail.

Haven't been to Ewood since 2005, hated being treated like a criminal or cattle. I've missed the best results there because of the bus operations.

I have a feeling that it was compulsory to buy a coach ticket in 2005, but not compulsory to use them?wilks_bfc wrote:It wasn't compulsory in 2005
I went over on the train, but had a ticket for the coach back.
Re: 2017/18: Blackburn Rovers v Burnley – Ticket Information
It is not only abut Burnley FC getting a back bone, but fans as well.
If we all refuse to get on the buses, or just run a ordinary supporter coach, then there is actually nothing the police can do about it.
Would they turn away 20+ supporters at the gates? No
Can they arrest 20+ supporters for traveling to Ewood park to watch football? No
Sadly the club don't like backing the fans, the police must have a very strong hold over the club some how.
But obviously in some peoples eyes the club can do no wrong, and everything they do is for the fans.
I,m just glad I am on holiday

Are the ticket sales split between both clubs? If so, boycott it and let roverrrrrrrrrs fund a premier league team again.
Re: 2017/18: Blackburn Rovers v Burnley – Ticket Information
I'm not convinced to be honest. It's possible they made an off-the-cuff comment at the time that most people (including myself) missed and now doesn't seem to appear online but the only comment I can find from the club is:ClaretTony wrote:Comments in the press for sure. Burnley Football Club said that after listening to feedback from fans on previous occasions, the club had done its utmost to ensure the arrangements and journey times to Ewood Park were as efficient for fans as possible, with park and ride locations timed as close to kick-off as possible.
which doesn't sound much like condemning the arrangements.

It would be lovely for somebody from the Club to read this thread this morning and issue a statement similar to the above saying:aggi wrote:I'm not convinced to be honest. "Burnley Football Club after listening to fans on this and previous occasions understands that they no longer wish to be treated like second class citizens and told that they must be forced onto buses against their will to watch a football game.
The Club is not going to agree to the police advice and will sell tickets to it's fans without a bus ticket and allow them to attend the game by their own transport methods as do every other football club in the United Kingdom."
Or a similar statement.
Let a few of us fans meet the police officer in charge of this operation instead of the people at the club who don't seem able to fight their way out of a paper bag.

I quite like the busses for the fixture (although I live about 200 yds from the turf so it doesnt really inconvenience me) Always makes me laugh when we turn right at those traffic lights and head past that pub with 100's of ba5tards stood outside. Even the most placid of fans end up banging on the windows to "say hello"

Re: 2017/18: Blackburn Rovers v Burnley – Ticket Information
The club are ensuring the safety of all fans, anyone who thinks they wouldnt be serious trouble at this fixture if we was allowed to make our own way is deluded.
We've made special arrangements for a family member to make his own way there before an there wasn't an issue so maybe people with exceptional circumstances could speak to the club.
Personally enjoy the atmosphere on the buses an dont feel like I'm being treated as a criminal but more that the police are keeping me and my family safe from morons.
Would never stop me going to this fixture people need to get over it an see the good what the club and police are doing.

This is a joke. I work in Accy and ordinarily don't finish until 5.30pm, so I face the prospect of getting back into Burnley to get showered changed and then down to the Turf for these stupid buses.
I am waiting for the club and the police to get their fingers out of their collective arses and announce the details so that I can arrange something for the game.
It is a week tomorrow ffs.

There is, just allow supporters to make their own way there.
In London, supporters make their own way to matches, whether it be Arsenal v Spurs, Chelsea v West Ham etc. There is just as much animosity between those sets of fans yet the Met police have a far more mature attitude towards the way they deal with football matches.
If Burnley played Blackburn at Wembley it wold be handled far more professionally by the London police, simply because they know what they are doing in high profile games.
Even up north, Liverpool & Man. U are treated with a bit more respect and I'd imagine there is likely to be far more trouble than there would be compared to our games between us and Rovers.

Basically anyonr involved in these discussions, from the club down has no backbone or resl desire to change things. Thats fact. If you want something badly enough no matter how much the police poke their nose in and the club play along you can change it.

He's got a point there. The Met would handle it like they do loads of other high profile stuff. Obviously their resources are way beyond Lancs police.Spijed wrote: If Burnley played Blackburn at Wembley it wold be handled far more professionally by the London police, simply because they know what they are doing in high profile games.
We go in buses because it's loads easier and cheaper for the police and the neither club wants the hassle of refusing. If we play them in the league again one day, or in the FA Cup it'll probably bug me again, but for this game they could play it on the moon on a Thursday morning.
Re: 2017/18: Blackburn Rovers v Burnley – Ticket Information
The failure of the club to oppose this publicly is very disappointing; so too Rovers.
Whether or not it's better than it has been is ultimately not the point. The principle here is of freedom of movement and it's one we're being denied. And it stinks.
If there's trouble the police need to come down on offenders like a tonne of bricks, as do the clubs: fine, bans and criminal prosecutions are all options available as we all know. You do not move to limit people's rights before the event; it isn't treating people equally before the law. Why the hell shouldn't I be able to walk down the road to Ewood from the train station? Whether or not the Bobby telling me i have to do this does.so with a smile is irrelevant to the fact.
Burnley and Blackburn fans are being treated differently from thousands of others and it's a disgrace and violation of basic rights. It should make us all angry and must change. Until it does we should make our voices heard loudly and regularly because it's a stain on what is otherwise a wonderful time to support the Clarets.

correct, its very much about the fans.MACCA wrote:It is not only abut Burnley FC getting a back bone, but fans as well.
the problem here is that loads of people complain about it all and then get on the buses anyway.
this game is the perfect opportunity to make a stand and not go. nothing would make more of a statement than an empty away end but it will be a decent following and another 'successful operation' for lancs police ergo nothing will change for future games.

Can you imagine the Met going to Abramovich and telling him that all Chelsea fans are to be sent on a bus to their next away game at West Ham for safety reasons. He would have them laughed out of London. We are being made to look pathetic.

It's one away fixture I won't attend because of the overhanded nature of the policing. Bus convoys, spiked steel fences, riot police, barking dogs, horses, helicopters, shouldn't be part of football.

actually i think it has to start from the fans.
if the met went to abramovich and said that, i doubt he'd personally be that arsed - it wouldn't be until the fans kicked off about it that chelsea would really take notice.
i have no idea what level of standing up to the police our club has done but whatever stand they make, they do it with one hand tied behind their back, knowing that in the end, fans will accept the travel conditions and still go.
