Re: Am I allowed to post this?
A fabulous post, congratulations to you all. I hate it when our youngsters - and by implication their parents - are judged and written off these days.
The truth is, of course, that stories like yours, ty, are the norm and it's not a bad old world we live in. Let the cynics go to hell...
Again, well done to you all and may your success and happiness continue.

Re: Am I allowed to post this?
Excellent, a great story hopefully with an even better ending in a few decades time when your children achieve a great and happy life.
My wife and I have gone down a similar path, more recently but one which I hope has as successful an outcome academically as your story does.
Knowing what I do about the difficulties these kids have due to the way their early difficulties affect their attachment, impulses and behaviour, adoptive parents as you will know have a really tough time that often their friends and family don't see - hopefully you are giving yourself an even bigger pat on the back than the rest of us are giving you, because you deserve it.

Just logged on and don't normally post but it is so inspiring what you and your family have achieved. I know from friends how difficult it can be to take on and inspire adopted children. As others have said, a great story and how justifiably proud you all must be.

Tony - Congratulations to you, Pam and Alex. An absolutely fabulous achievement. Keeping up a family tradition. And at the same time having to cope with Colin, you deserve a medal!

Absolutely amazing outcome, you should all be very, very proud.
I too remember when you announced you had finally got the lads but can't believe that's 10 years ago.
What you have done to provide a stable, loving and, clearly, successful upbringing is a total credit to you and your wife.

This story is the exact reason why we should always have an all inclusive messageboard.
A truly heartwarming story that I may have missed had we had separate boards for separate topics.
Congratulations to you all.

Wow. I remember back in the old ClaretsMAD days when you started your journey. So pleased for you all and proud of an inspirational fellow Claret. The hard work and dedication really has paid off; well done and keep up the great work!
Re: Am I allowed to post this?
And a second congratulation for (most probably) having the most liked post ever on here. Think I'd struggle to get anywhere near it, even if I brought the old photoshop out of retirement in a ClaretsMAD stylee!

Re: Am I allowed to post this?
Blimey. To say that I have been blown away by the replies to my original post is the biggest understatement ever.
I only posted the news to let the few people on here that know Alex how he had done and certainly never expected the responses that I have had nor the 139 likes!
There have been some lovely replies and many that had Pam in tears last night. So much so I am treating her to a night out at Old Trafford tonight for the last t20 game of the season with a meal and drinks thrown in. Alex didn't want to join us as he has some games lined up on his pc with his mates!l Life doesn't change.
Thanks for all your good wishes and lovely words.

Re: Am I allowed to post this?
Hi Ty ... Tony.
I am genuinely humbled to read this...
We've never knowingly met, but I do recall your story from the old C-Mad site. You had a fight on your hands to allow you to do something magnificent. The world is tangibly and demonstrably a better place for your perseverance.
Your sons are a credit to you and Pam, and you are all a credit to society; a society which too often disappoints.
A good friend of mine (Stoke fan, but he's alright) did Marine Biol at Bangor (so long ago that the marine life probably included proto-humans) and he has had a marvellous career in the music industry: he can vouch for the course being a springboard for life.
I'm sure your lad will continue to thrive.
Cheers fella!
Uwe.

It's just been a fantastic thread to read Tony and I've gone on every time I've seen it updated so I could read the comments. I'm so pleased you are treating Pam tonight, she deserves a medal let alone the pie & peas and coke she'll be getting for her treat.tybfc wrote:Blimey. What if the answer was NO and the Mods took to censoring it?
Good of you to ask ty and you got hundreds of appropriate answers from the Clarets community.
Enjoy your night at Old Trafford, a pity Lancs and Yorks have both struggled at T20 this year.
