Chris Wood

Post by FactualFrank » Sun Aug 27, 2017 6:04 pm

Can I just raise my hand as someone who has been going on about him perhaps a bit too much, but for good reason. That's the positive thing about sitting through Leeds games, when I go out with friends (most all Leeds fans) at the weekend into Leeds.

This doesn't end though - Taylor will be the next player we're discussing, as soon as he gets his chance.

Oh... and what a point! :D

He showed the speed he has in his locker and it was a ballsy finish as there was a risk of him injuring him self with defender, but stayed composed and a very cool finish. 1 in 1 in the premiere league

Outstanding finish. Timed his run to perfection. Lovely ball too.

I must admit I didn't know he could score goals like that. I had my doubts about £15m for him but he's shut my mouth (well, no as I shouted when he scored) and I'm a very happy bunny. :)

I can't wait for him to fully integrate into Dyche's way of football. Exciting times ahead. I think we have more than replaced Gray with Wood.

He will score goals. Offside numerous times but what a composed finish and what a ball through to him. Strong finish by us and that bodes well. So thrilled I almost spilled my Merlot when we scored!

I was saying this time and time again when we were rumoured to be in for him, but all I kept reading was how he was slow (false) and how he was an exact replica of Vokes (false). I'm just glad that he's now starting to show what I've been saying all along.

I like Wood but that goal does not show his pace. No one was sprinting when he scored

The defence splitting pass to him was brilliant too!

Fair play to Frank - he's been saying what a good player he is all along. I've been fairly happy chasing him too as I know a few Leeds fans who rate him (not seen him as much as Frank though).

All jogging then were they?

It's not simply about running fast, it's the ability to get in behind the defence and then finish. Gray would not have scored there even though he often hit shots early - he just didn't have the touch to pull that off.

A valuable goal like that makes him worth the full £25 million! UTC

I'm not saying Gray would have scored, or that Wood's isn't fast. I'm saying that this goal isn't about Wood's pace. It's about the pass and Wood's movement.

And no they were not jogging they were running, but no one was going full pelt

Thanks BC, that's nice of you to say. Like I've said, I'll give just as much faith to Charlie Taylor as I've done for Chris Wood. He WILL be one of our best players and he'll have threads started about him in due course. It's just that Ward is playing exceptionally well at the minute and so is rightly the first pick.

In the hour or so we have seen him in a Burnley shirt he has got himself into some very good positions multiple times.

Far harder to mark than Gray or Vokes.
