and they know they make a killing from us regarding the add on's - They probably still can't believe how much they have made on Gray and Tarks in such a short space of time - compare that to Hogan

Not a rumour per say i wonder if our Belgian contacts are aware of this player.

Stoke have held further talks with Club Brugge over an £8.5m deal for 22-year-old centre-back Bjorn Engels.

Seems within range fee wise don't know if wages would be a stumbling block though. And no we are not signing his comrade Marx before anyone asks. :)

I hope we looked at him. Surprised at the fee being mentioned, I expected him to go for more. Good player, couple of injuries (impact based that he has recovered well from, nothing serious) potential to develop as a player and in financial terms. Shame that Stoke are sniffing around now, if the rumour is true. Minority opinion it seems, but I think he looks a better fit and prospect than Jonah Ranocchia.

Official bid made?

Not sure why defender clips focus on goals instead of defensive play (you will have to watch the full Club Brugge matches for that), but here are some clips.

He would have a better chance of game time here than Stoke, competing on equal terms with Tarks and Long for a spot.

At that price we should be in for him. That is an excellent price for Jota.

Kevin Mirallas looks like he's not in Koemans plans and there are rumours of a loan bid from Olympiacos. Team mate of Defour in the national team, time for a cheeky loan bid from us ?

He would be fantastic - but I'm not sure he is completely out of Koeman's plans

wages again Vegas - suspect his will be large - take Niasse, supposedly only £8m (did I say only!??) but currently on £80k a week, he won't want to drop them - Mirallas likely to be on at least something similar

if Olympiacos are after him then Everton might be subsidising. He's on 70K a week and there is no chance they can afford that. Doubt Dyche would go for him anyway, I'm just dreaming a bit !

I can see the value of bringing in a player like Jota. Limiting the talk to potential playing contribution is all well and good, but he could offer us something else if we are looking to branch out into Europe for player transfers.

At the moment we don't have a huge number of European nationals and none of our players are Spanish. This could be considered a weakness, because any player we might look to bring in from La Liga will have a harder time settling without any fellow nationals at the club. Having a player on the books who can broach the Spanish gap and help with the acclimatisation of foreign incomings could be a valuable addition for the future.

Maybe Dyche doesn't want a Spanish influence on the group? A lot of foreign players keep getting mention because yes you get more skill for your money but would that break up what wonderful team spirit and togetherness we have in the team?
I always think that a team like Watford, the huge number of nationalities and languages being spoken must make it so hard to coach and create a good team spirit.

I like the fact that we have a largely home islands team. The culture is understood and they buy into trying their best, for each other, no matter what. Defour is only from Belgium but had to integrate.
Some other imports don't like the intensity or the cold weather! It is no surprise that Koeman is assembling an increasingly 'home' outfit.

To imagine players of different nationalities can't create a strong team spirit is simply not true. This is proven by the successes of the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea etc.

Kevin Wimmer set to sign for Stoke which mean Shawcross might be available. Contract expires at the end of the season.

I think that's a bit more about spending 100's of millions on the best players in the world rather than cutting your cloth accordingly and continually swimming against the tide
