Significant Stadium investment plans
Re: Significant Stadium investment plans
If this is a case of adding improved disabled facilities what has the council got to do with it?
I understand we need planning permission but why should the council say we need to do X Y and Z in the town centre to improve disabled facilities at the turf?

Re: Significant Stadium investment plan
Going back to the time the JH and J Mc stands were built, the costs of building those stands was considerably cut by someone I know very well, whose company covered a lot of the cost of materials supplied in the building of the stands. At the time money was very tight at the club and due to his support of our club, they could go ahead with building of the stands. So any plans to incorporate facilities for the disabled supporters could not be taken into consideration, as the money was not available at the club. With no disrespect to people unfortunate to need those facilities, the support for them then in that era, was not as highly considered as it is now. It was the Colne Clarets I think who paid the costs of supplying the improved covered area for disabled supporters at the corner of the JH and J Mc. Things will rightly improve for those supporters who need use of the new facilities and I hope none of us fit enough now, ever need to require them, watching our beloved team.
TC this comment is not calling you, but I wonder why some of the developments happening within Burnley FC, which you may appear to be aware of, are not being made known on UTC ASAP, As you are aware every supporter wants to be informed at the earliest of developments within the club. We the general public supporters cling to every bit of accurate information we can glee from the club and this website is mainly our only source of good information, especially when you appear to know about it. Unless it's information you receive from within, you're asked not to disclose.
If you have any knowledge of any proposed developments within the ground, please share them with us

£5million is a substantial sum and might just cover a specially built stand in the corner of the Jimmy Mac and JH. That with state of the art facilities would be my hope. With a new fans bar underneath it generating more income.

Good to see that they are investing for the disabled who have the worse seats in the house. Scandalous facilities.
That said, with the £5m mooted surely it would be more prudent to just completely knock down one of the older two stands and rebuild from scratch with disabled facilities part of it.

I like the idea of that Rodley. The fans zone which sits behind that area could be incorporated into a more perminant structure

Would need planning permission and building regulations approval. Some major applications are granted subject to a Section 106 agreement where the applicant funds various infrastructure / community projects (eg Tesco example above). A dispute between Spurs and haringey council over the section 106 agreement was one of the main causes of delay in rebuilding White Hart LaneInchy wrote:If this is a case of adding improved disabled facilities what has the council got to do with it?

Don't think that would apply in this instance though, if it is just the disabled facilities being improved- the council have to be able to demonstrate that the development would place additional demands on local transport, roads etc, which would only be the case if we were talking about a significant increase to capacity.

This is why its confusing. If it's just an upgrade to the disabled facilities why are the council involved other than planning permission. Why would we need to touch the town centre. Very strange
