ARTICLE: Clarets sign Yorkshire Terrier Wells
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets sign Yorkshire Terrier Wells
I had my doubts, but now he is a Claret he gets 100% support and backing. And for those idiots who can't help themself jeering and booing new and young players, just understand it is a massive pet hate of SD and he has pointed to it as the only negative of this club, so potentially could sway his decision 1 day.
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets sign Yorkshire Terrier Wells
Absolute rubbish.dsr wrote:Apart from your "robot fans" being nonsense, yes, I genuinely think he won't get all the supporters' backing, just as Brian Laws didn't get all the supporters' backing. If there is a sizeable number of fans who think he's useless, they will be a lot quicker to see a misplaced pass and start booing. A player with the fans' goodwill behind him has a much better chance of success.
I haven't for a long time, if ever, heard a player get booed for a misplaced pass.
Just because fans don't rate him, doesn't mean he wont get their backing whilst on the field. ( certainly gets my backing, just like Hennings & Juke did )
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets sign Yorkshire Terrier Wells
Every club has fans who jeer and boo new and young players and Dyche knows that.
I have booed managers before. Steve Cotterill was the last time and he deserved it

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets sign Yorkshire Terrier Wells
Honestly, if our friends down the road had signed a fairly average player from League 2 who was injured, and unlikely to start a game for up to 2 months, what would have been the reaction from all fans on here
And it's not as if we had to fight off many other suiters (inc his current club) for his signature

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets sign Yorkshire Terrier Wells
I was a touch underwhelmed yesterday when it became obvious we were signing him. Having listened to him, studied a couple of Youtube videos and his record, I am feeling more positive. In today's market 5M is almost a free transfer (I never thought I'd say that), and at that price he isn't much of a risk; which Waris probably would have been, although I thought it was him I wanted.
If we sign a centre half today, I will regard it as a good window.
Welcome to Turk Moor, Nahki.

Firstly why are you comparing us to Blackburn fans? Secondly, we've signed a player from the Premier League, not League 2. And thirdly you have no idea that he won't be able to start a game for up to 2 months.jojomk1 wrote:Honestly, if our friends down the road had signed a fairly average player from League 2 who was injured, and unlikely to start a game for up to 2 months, what would have been the reaction from all fans on here

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets sign Yorkshire Terrier Wells
The very fact Sean Dyche has been tracking Wells for many a season shows he's a player he rates and one who had good attributes.
He'll be hungry and offer something we haven't got among our other forwards.
Wood and Wells for Gray is a definite step forward for me.
I'm looking forward to watching him and feel sure he'll improve with us.

2. Given his injury and therefore lack of pre season training to a dyche standard I doubt we will see him for some time - yes 2 months about right
3. He has never played at Premier League level
4. I presume you agree about the comment that nobody else seemed interested in taking him on

I'll reserve judgement on him until he's actually kicked a ball in anger. We had similar with the Wood signing. Berating the signing, then he scored at Wembley and all the doubters went quiet....

You compared this situation with Blackburn signing a player from League 2 - I don't understand the relevance.jojomk1 wrote:1.Where did i mention us in relation to Blackburn fans

He said he's 7-10 days away from being able to undertake full training so I'm not sure why he won't feature within 2 months. Also, I'm not sure he will he expected to start many games in any case.
I don't know whether anyone else was interested in taking him on or not and in many ways I don't really care.

I remember Brian Laws getting all the supporters' backing away at Fulham, it was one of the worst matches I've been to in recent years.dsr wrote:Apart from your "robot fans" being nonsense, yes, I genuinely think he won't get all the supporters' backing, just as Brian Laws didn't get all the supporters' backing. Pretty much sums up my thoughts, too. Don't understand why people assume that because you don't think someone is a good signing that you're going to boo him on the ground. How counter productive would that be?!KRBFC wrote:I don't think he's good enough having watched him play, ill be delighted if I'm proven wrong. Why would I boo a Burnley player? I have no problem if people think he's a good signing, that's completely up to them to form their own opinions. If I disagree with an opinion, it doesn't make me correct which is the concept you're struggling to deal with.
Never mind Gifton, I cheered Michael Ricketts, ffs. And he was utter gash.

I find it strange that the majority who were slagging off Wells before he signed are now delighted hes on board. So fake, I hate fake people.

Why would they need my support after matches?
I'm only just warming to the idea that singing during the 90 minutes effects their performance, I doubt they'll care next to nowt if I'm praising them at 19:00 Saturday night whilst they are sat on their couch.

Well it just seems hypocritical and odd to be bang on about how bad a Burnley player is (which you've done all day) whilst using some pretty derogatory terms to describe them and then cheer them on for 90 minutes on a match day.MACCA wrote:Why would they need my support after matches?

If you don't agree with something, you are better off just carrying on with your usual routine.
Take it you've not been involved in sport, if you throw the towel in when things don't go your way.
I didn't agree with Laws, Sordell, Juke ( or Dyche when appointed like 95% of others ) but they all got and will continue to get my support when representing my club.
If you're so easily swayed in your support when things didnt go your way, who did you support for the last 30 seasons?

You said you give support to our players when they represent us. Wells is a Burnley player and is now representing us. What are you hoping to achieve with your constant criticism of his signing? I don't think I'll be doing that as I guess I'd be wasting my time. I'd be surprised if I could find 2 or 3 people who have slagged Wells off and are now delighted that he's signed. I know for a fact that it won't be the majority.

Well..it's bye bye Nahki then! :bye
Scanning across few Burnley fans forums it seems he's leaving a club where he was well respected and liked by everyone to a club where the fans are decidedly down beat even hostile about signing him. As all Town fans know Nahki's a 'confidence player' so possibly the worst thing Burnley fans could do is put a downer on him from the start. As I commented above, he could well strike up a profitable partnership with Wood or Vokes and I hope for his sake he does.
Clearly he saw his chances of making our starting eleven were pretty slim and personally I don't think he was suited to or enjoyed the loan striker role but in fairness to the lad be soldiered on and gave his all. It sounds very much like Nahki's agent played a big part in proceedings, with our Chairman Dean Hoyle commenting that he's been ill-advised. It's all water under the bridge now I suppose but I don't like seeing good players leave no matter what the circumstances are.
So I'll look forward to seeing him back here as long as he doesn't do a Jordon Rhodes and destroy us.
