I was born in 1980.
I wasn't attending football academies.
I wasn't sexually abused either.
Plus when a teacher at my former primary school was convicted of child abuse it barely made the local paper, such was the attitude of the day.
Want to try that again?

Re: Graham Taylor
That's the point of the article/ current inquiry. It was brought to his attention first time round, and he was part of the villa set up that allegedly brushed it under the table. Some of those involved are still alive, who knows what else may be brought to light.Sidney1st wrote:Yes he was alive but NO ONE investigated it or had a public enquiry

Re: Graham Taylor
Please bare in mind until there is a legal case gone through nothing has been brought to light. Accusations have been made, nothing more - you could accuse me of being a secret Wovers fan... it does not make it true.WadingInDeeper wrote:That's the point of the article/ current inquiry. Unfortunately, some people only understand headlines, and completely ignore the likes of "allegedly", "purported", "reputed" and "supposedly".elwaclaret wrote:Please bare in mind until there is a legal case gone through nothing has been brought to light. Should have pluralised the adjective too though, really.Rowls wrote:I've given this post a like for the plural alone.

Re: Graham Taylor
People!!!! Keep things in perspective. It's OK to hate the B******s unequivocally, but to accuse Graham Taylor of anything approaching the Jimmy Savoie crimes is simply ludicrous. Maybe the worst thing he did was love his club too much, and tried to keep something under wraps. Who of us doesn't have something in our extended family that we're not proud of?
Re: Graham Taylor
Nobody is accusing of him of anything like what Saville did. The reference to Saville is in the context of sweeping things under the carpet. As mentioned there was lots of people who thought Saville was innocent at the outset because of his public persona and charity work.
Until the issue has been investigated not sure how you can say Taylor is innocent (or of course whether he is guilty)
Of course this is horrible for his family - but we are in times which are the opposite of the 1970s now. That can be horrible and unfair for those accused - as even if proven innocent you can still be tainted for life. But still as a society it's better to be in this position than what took place previously
