Re: Junckers vision of a United States of Europe.
How many times does it have to be said before remainers get it. No deal is just a discussion postion, just like you have to pay us 100b euros is. Neither is going to happen. Never was. A deal will be done because both want the trade and the EU needs our money fo a few years at least.
The last general election clearly supported Brexit, based on the Tory/Labour manifestos. The mistake our politicians, certain media and others have made is not to get behind the PM and Davis so they can get the best deal possible.

It was hard to get behind May because of the existing queue of Tories waiting to stab her in the back.

The best deal possible won't be up to May, Davis or anybody else this side of the water. Turkeys have a longer life expectancy than May has as PM, I'm afraid.

Brexit was always going to be bad, its now going to be a lot worse because the election wasn't the foregone conclusion that "our politicians, certain media and others" thought it was going to be.
The Conservatives still haven't recovered, and are incapable of understanding that the majority of the country doesn't think like the majority of their members. Until they get that, then this f**k up is only going to get worse.

i haven't tried to twist your words at all, they're all there throughout this and other threads for people to read.RingoMcCartney wrote:Thank you, your precious. For graciously allowing me the chance for self healing!
Your clearly trying but failing to twist my words.
So no. Obviously for the passengers it's not.
But for Mr Remoaner, Oleary who the hysterically claimed thatr- "March 2019 there'll be no flights between the UK and Europe."
And now cos of his inability to organise a p*** up in a brewery. He's having to ground planes left right and centre! Now the EU rules on basically bring s***. Have bit him in his entitled @rse. !![]()
![]()
That's karma!![]()
good to see you've taken the chance to redeem yourself slightly, even if your position remains rather backwards.
o'leary and ryanair will be fine after this (its only affecting 2% of their flights) they're hardly going to go under because of it. its the passengers who suffer.
a metaphor for brexit if ever there was one.

Crikey, I'd missed that one earlier this year.aggi wrote:Of course if we do take the favoured Brexit route of telling the EU to go stuff 'emselves and ripping up all the agreements (No deal is the technical name I believe) then it is true that UK airlines won't be able to fly into Europe as to continue to operate on routes between European airports, they must have a significant base on EU territory and that a majority of their capital shares must be EU-owned. They also won't be able to fly into the US either as they'll no longer be part of the EU-US open skies agreement.
Of course it is unlikely to happen but it does show how absurd the "No deal" position is.
Scandalous protectionism, the EU gets worse in my eyes every day I find out something new. Jobs / contracts for the pals would be another way of describing it. The airline lobby in Brussels must be jampacked. Not exactly a way to get value for money for the taxpayer but there you go.
We may well lose out by no deal, which isn't my (temporary) preference, but we can't be pandering to this type of dispicable politics any longer.

Re: Junckers vision of a United States of Europe.
I don't think it's got much to do with that at all. It's just commonsense to have a Pan-European Agreement that covers, rules, regulations, safety, standards, compensation etc. under the jurisdiction of one body rather than us having to have the complication of separate arrangements with 27 separate countries. The arrangement that the EU made with the USA shows the value of this.CrosspoolClarets wrote:Crikey, I'd missed that one earlier this year.

Presumably we would simply make a similar deal to the Americans.
I don't see it as a big issue in the great scheme of things, but something needs to be put in place for the day after we leave the EU.

Err, no it didn't as that's why we now have a hung parliament.summitclaret wrote:The last general election clearly supported Brexit
I can't recall many seats with remain supporting MP's who lost at the last election, of which there were quite a few.

Re: Junckers vision of a United States of Europe.
Bit ******** that though
The Conservatives convinced themselves that Brexit would mean Lab voters voting for them in constituencies where they needed to get a landslide
Lab voters stayed loyal to Lab, even in Vauxhall, where a massive majority wanted to remain.
Basically, party politics and some tactical voting won out, and I wouldn't call it a stretch to say that if lab came out in favour of a "soft brexit" or even a "think about it Brexit" that they wouldn't win pretty comfortably next time.
