I think Ontarioclaret might be right. The tube thing is common in our grocery stores (supermarkets), and I do buy nuts this way, but we're provided plastic bags for our convenience

And then at check-out first question I'm asked is "plastic ok or paper?" None of this charging for carrier bags stuff, which always catches me out when I visit the U.K.

I wouldn't know about the adverts.I just disagree that he stole or steals a living.about thirty years I had a friend who earned a living from skips in Blackpool. He loaded up his truck with all sorts of crap and sold it early Saturday mornings in Liverpool. Pieces of old carpet..and half full tins of paint etc.people will buy owt!whats the ads refer to?
