Everton move for Dyche
Re: Everton move for Dyche
I've just been told that Everton are going to offer SD a three and a half year contract in the next few days.

Big few days for our board; can they convince Dyche to stay? If not, can they bring in a good quality replacement?Tall Paul wrote:I've just been told that Everton are going to offer SD a three and a half year contract in the next few days.

Were you told if he would be interviewed before being offered the job?
Re: Everton move for Dyche
No, but I've already been told (and posted on here) that they've already spoken to his representatives who have indicated that he wants it.NL Claret wrote:Were you told if he would be interviewed before being offered the job?

So does that mean they’ve already approached Burnley for permission to speak to Dyche?
Re: Everton move for Dyche
I don't know. It seems common knowledge that there's a set fee of £2.5m for compensation, so I'd imagine it'd just be a simple case of them telling Burnley that they're willing to pay it.Sidney1st wrote:So does that mean they’ve already approached Burnley for permission to speak to Dyche?

Re: Everton move for Dyche
All this confusion, a solution would be for Dyche to manage both clubs at the same time.
He could manage us Monday to Wednesday and big massive huge ‘not really done much in reality’ Everton on a Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
We could share Saturdays and when playing each other he could spend half a game in each dugout.

Is the £2.5 million an automatic release clause, or a compensation clause?
I think we got more for Howe...
Re: Everton move for Dyche
I didn't say a contract had been agreed, just that Everton are ready to offer one. In real life, they'll have discussed it with his agent and it'll just be a case of agreeing the compensation with Burnley and SD signing it - unless he's changed his mind over the weekend.Sidney1st wrote:To agree a contract it would require them to talk to Burnley first.

Guardian quote in today's webpages: 'There's not a story there. My story is the Burnley story. Five years here, another fantastic win, a clean sheet. We've won 1-0, that's the story.'

So no interview taken place then. Would you offer someone a job without interview? No.
This doesn't add up or make any sense. Hi Sean, thanks for joining Everton football club. Ok then, what's the plan to get us out of this mess? What do you think of Rooney, a pi ss can? Can you do anything for him?
BFS has been interviewed.

I bet Burnley offers contracts to lots of football players without interviewing them and I bet my life Dyche didnt interview Ian Woan before offering him a job as his assistant manager at BurnleyNL Claret wrote:So no interview taken place then. Would you offer someone a job without interview? No.

Difference is Dyche knows Woan and scouts the players.
But different to taking over a managers job.

Re: Everton move for Dyche
So no interview required for the manager job at a football club who are in dire straits? Really? Might they want to ask him how he plans to get them of out trouble? Who he would want to sign in January? Or did his agents let them know that?

Re: Everton move for Dyche
I agree and thats the point i was sort of highlighting that football is very different to normal life and employment full stop. I would guess most clubs will interview for managers but especially at the highest level where a lot is already known about the avaialble managers then when a club targets a specific manager they want they will probably hold some talks but will not interviewSidney1st wrote:Difference is Dyche knows Woan and scouts the players.

Not saying this is the case with Dyche but i thought the general premise of the point asking "would you offer someome a job without interview" was not a great one in the context of professional football as i showed with two simple examples

If what Tall Paul says is right - and I've no reason to disbelieve him, he's one of those posters who seems pretty straight - then I'd guess any haggle would be more about which backroom staff Dyche gets to take with him, and when. We know there's a release clause on Dyche's head - reported at 2.5 million - but I'd be surprised if that extended to Woan and Loughlan too. I'd imagine Dyche would want to take those 2 with him on day one, rather than going to Everton alone. Burnley can't stop them going, but we can potentially delay their departure depending on what their contracts state their notice period is.
If Dyche wanted anyone else - BIlly Mercer, say - then I'd guess Burnley would play real hardball.

Just put £100 on him to be the next Everton manager. It's only £225 return, but it'll pay for enough beers to ease the pain.

I wonder if everton would want to know who he intends to bring with him before appointing him? Or do they already know?

Tall Paul can’t be the only one to be told that news if it is correct. If it was fairly well known I’d have thought that the bookies would have got wind of it and you certainly wouldn’t be able to get 6/4 on Dyche going. Bfs is still odds on favourite.

It's not a done deal yet, SD could still turn them down or BFS compromise his demands. I trust this source's info on Everton though, he's never been wrong so far.

No, they don’t, but if a contract is agreed then the club can accuse Everton of tapping up Dyche etc.Tall Paul wrote:They don't need permission to talk to his agent.

Re: Everton move for Dyche
Sydney - I'd suggest that if Burnley might themselves be interested in a manager who has a job currently to replace Dyche (and I'd be astonished if one or two in the Championship weren't on our shortlist), then I doubt Burnley will be immediately starting a campaign to change the way the football industry works, and has worked for years. Even if, strictly, you might be right that it is borderline tapping up.

Re: Everton move for Dyche
I may have got this wrong but as I see it allardyce wants a 3.5 year deal, Everton only want to give him 1.5 yet are about to offer Dyche 3.5? That makes sense. Either way it's mentally draining now all of this and boring. I just wish Everton would get the **** on with things.
Re: Everton move for Dyche
Flick through an Everton forum and they sound none the wiser as to who will be their new manager.
Flick through a Burnley forum and there's someone who knows someone who's never wrong about Everton that Dyche will be offered a 3.5 year deal.
You'd think it would be the other way round.
