This has popped up every few months for the past 3 years though .....

Think most people who stream accept that one day it'll come to an end but are making the most of it for now. People will have saved a fortune by not having sky for a while and know that one day it'll come to an end but they still saved a few pence in the meantime.

People would have no issue paying for Sky if they could just watch the games they want to see.

It's hardly fair that someone in France can legally watch a game that kicks off at 3pm on a Saturday yet someone in the UK can't.

Aye not everyone wants to make 60 quid a month to watch teams they don't support.

Show Burnley games at a reasonable price and we will pay!

Sky could cut a lot of the streamers if Sky Go wasn't complete and utter shite.

Remember when copying CDs was illegal, and then downloading music was illegal? It didn't make anyone stop doing it, just like this won't.

I imagine the football deal after the next one will pretty much all revolve around streaming and trying to 'monetise' it that way. £60-£80 a month to watch teams you don't support on telly is a thing of the past.

I watched several games last year but this year the streams have been blocked. Funny thing is now I cannot watch the clarets on an away day I am starting to do other things (not shopping). So I am now considering cancelling Sky footy channel plus some others like F1, seasons over.
Whilst watching streams I felt kinda obliged to pay for sky, now I am not watching as much footy it's kinda back firing on Sky for me.
Some people may start paying the enormous sums for Sky, but I think it's making me go the other way.

Strictly speaking they are correct when they say they've made it harder. I now have to click 'connect' on my VPN before I log in to my IPTV of choice.

Takes a whole 2 seconds extra too, the swines.

Being a bit of a technophobe, I wouldn't know where to start streaming but I do know that the cost of the Sky packages are way outside of my budget so, it's MOTD for me when I can't make any away days.

I have a NowTV box and choose to watch Burnley at £6.99 per game, when they're on. Depending on other televised games, I can watch 2 or 3 games for price. Not bad really.

This is utter and complete nonsense.

As bfccrazy says, this rears its head every few months.
The genies out of the bottle now. As fast as they shut sites
and servers down, new ones are posted.

Ain't nowt they can do, it's just sabre rattling.
They've been fining the odd person for ages now.

They can't win this.

If you're referring to the belief attendances would suffer, then I think that's wrong.

Let's use Rovers as an example - generally had the cheapest season tickets year after year and still didn't sell out in the PL on a regular basis.

If a club in the PL can't shift season tickets that are just a few hundred quid without live coverage of 3pm kick offs what makes you think it should be better with restricted viewing?

Some people just won't, or can't, attend live football for the team they support and don't want to watch lower league football.

Technology is changing so fast. Only 5 years ago to watch NFL here you were given whatever game the tv company in your area picked and that was your choice. Then it went to an expensive all games pay per view package. Now you can watch individual games on Amazon.
It's interesting to see what happens when the traditional tv sources are challenged.

If amazon, Facebook, Apple etc decide to get involved it could mean more football for a lot less money. I give it 10 years before sky start struggling

If I was given the option to pay for digital access to watch all of our games I would happily pay for it. I can't get to games so it's not as though this product would take me away from attendance figures (which are all based on tickets and not actual attendees anyway). The nature of how people watch live football is changing and the big providers are going to have to develop new business models very soon.

I dont think it is the Prem league clubs like us who will suffer most but the lower league and non league clubs. There's the risk that a lot of people who make an effort to go out and watch their local club on a sat aft would just get in the habit of sitting at home or going to the pub to watch teams like Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and Arsenal

I think it will eventually change and soon but I think longer term we will see a real impact on the interest in teams outside the top two divisions which is a shame as the depth of our football league ladder is in my opinion head and shoulders above any other country in the world

Share the frustration but this is the step to the big clubs saying that they should get the share that their audience contribute - then we will see how poor we really are in comparison while Utd et al see their earnings rocket - it would make the Mardrid, Barcelona deals of years past look generous

My sub runs out with sportsmania next week, just heard that they will be sorting the payments issue out this weekend. They had gone down the bitcoin route but have lost a lot of customers. I now have a 3 month subscription with Flawless hosting, works very well and payment can be made via pay pal. I will probably re subscribe to sportsmania if they sort the payments out, the price has more than doubled bled at the present time.

Totally agree regarding Sky Go. They marketed it as some amazing service when it came out, and it was. Then overnight they introduced adverts, for a service you pay extra for, and it wrecked if for most people. Watching a film or box se5 was a nightmare, having to sit through 3 adverts before every showing, not being able t9 turn it off, but if you touched the screen it started them over again as it took you to the advertiser’s site.

Haven’t used it for the last 2 years I had Sky, and I’ve just got rid of the lot. It’s not worth £60 per month for Sky Sports News, which is basically all I fully used.

Regardless of Sky stopping streaming services I won’t be paying the money they want for that service. They’re way overpriced for what is on offer.

Nothing to worry about . A VPN solves any issue . Sure they might stop streaming for FREE in the UK but it costs around £6 a month for a good VPN . They'll never stop me streaming .

I agree with some of the comments above; if Sky gave me the option of Burnley F.C. content, plus Sky Sports News, I’d happily pay a reasonable fee for the away games. I attend the home ones and a few away so the home ones wouldn’t benefit, but I’m sure they’d rather have £15-20/month from me than nothing?

They could have a ‘pick your team’ and it costs you £xx per month for each team?

And like has been said above, if Amazon decide to take the Football from Sky they’d be screwed, because they’d make it cheaper.

Depends what I opt to watch on.
For Mobdro app, the Opera VPN does the trick.

Normally use Betternet VPN if watching via something off Kodi (except Sportsdevil)

A few years ago I used to regularly go to watch Bury or a non league game if Burnley were miles away, now your paying £10 - £25 to do that and it's not worth it. Wouldn't even consider it nowadays. The rising cost of watching football has already put many off. The lower leagues have already felt the impact.

Dont disagree with you but i was more thinking of the actual Bury and non league fans who might give up following their club. I think when 3pm games are streamed we will just see an even bigger increase in the younger generation supporting the bigger clubs rather than their home town clubs

The 3pm rule was definitely about protecting the smaller clubs and as frustrating as it might be to us now we are sat at the top table for once i think it is good there is still a rule protecting the minnows against the money machine of Sky and other TV companies.

Still it wont last for long and like anything times change and like always people will just get on with it

I think they are down to the hardcore already. They've always had a lot competition and there's more choice these days so going to Gigg Lane and paying £20 is not particularly attractive or VFM. At Bury the way the club is run is probably the current reason why fans have given up and they'll not be that bothered about watching PL at PPV. It will take a lot to attract them back to football.

I've just literally done the bitcoin thing and was a pain in the @rse tbh! Just been on to admin and we took ages to sort it out! He mentioned the card payment hopefully coming back and said maybe starting up the group on fb again which I think they need to do. I can understand why people have gone elsewhere because it was a ballache tonight to be honest. I've never really had a problem with the service and the streaming of games. And I've only got a MXQ pro box. It's cost me just over a tenner for a month for everything which even though is a hike on the old prices it's still a fraction of the cost I was being charged by sky!

Not going to disagree with you about a specific club as you obviously know a lot more than me about Bury. My point is a more general point across the spectrum and its a fact the rule was put in place to protect smaller clubs and its my opinion behaviours around watching lower and non league football will change for the worse.

I agree with you there already other factors impacting this but that doesnt mean this change wont worsen it further and finally as stated previously in a world where money talks and everything is weighted towards the TV companies I think it is good a rule like this benefiting the minnows still stands

Ive used Bitcoin through Coinbase for me and my dads account and it was so simple following their guides and was all done in 5 mins. My issue is by the time id paid all the fees and exchange rates it worked out at £14 per month. Gonna give it a couple of months but maybe trial a few IPTV subscriptions to see if they can match the quality, usability and reliability im getting with Sportsmania

Yes sorry it wasn't the bitcoin/coinbase that was the problem I should re-phrase that.
The price should drop as they maybe going back to the 1/3/6/ month subscriptions and card payment, could be even this weekend. Typical

I only use streaming because I want to watch Burnley and I can only get to about 10 games max per season. Other countries (eg Australia) have the rights to show matches and you can just choose to watch whichever one you want. However I think it may be bad for Burnley if that was done in all countries because Man Utd would just insist on getting a bigger share of the cash and we would get a lot less. As for catching people who are streaming, just get a VPN and make yourself a smaller target

Not sure of the relevance of this to me as the service and quality I get from Sportsmania is absolutely faultless so no issue with the servers being overused effecting me at all.

The only negative thing about the change for me is the cost. If I could pay a year subscription in Bitcoin which came to under £100 id be 100% happy

I know you are promoting your mates venture and I have Plex so I understand when you bang on about getting Plex that is only a vehicle to access streams like Kodi is a vehicle for accessing Sportsmania.

I get the feature of Plex that allows you to let a lot of devices access a main device where all your media is managed and it sounds like it I this bit you are using to give people access to your mates server for the cost of £50. If once people email you about it you explain in more detail and people are happy with it then fair play to you all but me personally would rather sign up with one where it has thousands of members, is established and has more to lose by going but then keeping going.

The risk with what you are offering is if suddenly your mates servers are closed down or he cant get hold of the source streams, or he gets greedy and lets too many people on, or something stops him being able to do it then it can be here one day and gone the next and that's your £50 gone. Not saying that will happen but that's just my way of looking at it

The price should drop as they maybe going back to the 1/3/6/ month subscriptions and card payment, could be even this weekend. Typical
Fingers crossed they drop the price back down then sounds like we'll both be happy :)

It's always good to get things cheaper. But it's not the most important thing to me. It's the service and getting what I'm paying for. It used to grind my balls when people would say to someone else "yeah but it's only costing you 14p a day if you're not happy go back to sky"! If I'm paying for something, no matter what the cost, then I want that product. I get that you can have problems with it etc but I still want to be able to use the bugger

Ok didn't realise you were still having issues which I know a lot of people are. Guess ive been lucky that the product I get is still as good a ever just at £15 is a little pricey but whilst I can guarantee I'm gonna get every Burnley game in perfect HD I'm reluctant to start switching around

or an invite only live stream on facebook live or youtube. looking at facebook live it isn't hard to have a match playing via iptv on a laptop and be streaming it on your facebook page. not sure what the quality will be like via facebook but it might be do-able.

The problem sky have is the overseas broadcasters, when games are on sky channels I would think they have more control over the broadcast and find it easier to find and shut down but most streamed games are via Beinsport,SFR,skynet, sportsnet and the rest in countries where sky have little to no influence so if they are streamed via a server (in lets say columbia) and your watching those channels via VPN there is little they can do. It took them years to put an end to card sharing and it will take them even longer to put an end to streaming, while there is internet there will be a way to watch games

I have a lifetime membership to SM

However in comparison to PLEX, Plex wins hands down.

And the server we use is established. Over 3000 members and has been tried and tested since late last year. Now the app has been modified to be dedicated to burnley fans i shared it with those on here.

It was issues caused by using bitcoin and their forum site, nothing major was just a ballache and took a while to sort out and that was only due to Peter trying to get my sub up and running again last night at his own request. I've never really had any problems when it comes to streaming except when sports mania had them problems they had a while back. I use ultimatemania because we have a young family and I like variety but while my sub was expired for a few days I used other add ons for sports/films and was never really confident in picture quality or the stability. With the ashes coming up and being able to watch us when i cant get to the games it's imperative that I have a decent picture and stability or else I get ratty

In comparison to sky/virgin let's be honest it isn't that pricey. But I get what you are saying, I think we have to look at the bigger picture though all though I'm sure they'll stop the streaming by an means necessarily.

I know you have a lifetime membership to SM and I know you have had problems. Still not sure of the original reply to me as ive no issues with quality and service of SM

If your service is established and youre giving fellow Burnley fans a good service then as ive also said before good on you. Not sure why you emphasise the Plex bit though as that's like saying to people you need to get Kodi it gives you faultless streams when it is neither Plex or Kodi that people are signing up to.

Anyhow good luck to you and any other Burnley fans using you mates service
