Re: Shearer.
If evidence is needed of what happens when you head a football repeatedly. I give you exhibit A.
Re: Shearer.
Punditry in general is poor quality but Shearer really does add very little value. Personally, I think they should have three pundits on MOTD ... an ex manager to discuss tactics and formations, an ex player to discuss technique and positioning and an ex referee to discuss decisions.

Re: Shearer.
Well today I watch a Bournemouth player booked for what really liked a penalty and Sterling just threw himself on the floor and no booking.
Wonder what they will make of those events.

Re: Shearer.
If you actually watch the replay the guy's almost horizontal before any challenge occurs. It's a brilliant spot by the ref. It's also stupid by the player as if he'd stayed on his feet it would have been a definite penalty. I guess it comes down to the old debate of trying to con the referee.Lowbankclaret wrote:Well today I watch a Bournemouth player booked for what really liked a penalty.

If you watch the replay it's an absolute stonewall penalty..Serves him right for diving and trying to con the ref..DavidEyresLeftFoot wrote:If you actually watch the replay the guy's almost horizontal before any challenge occurs. If they spent as much time playing football as they do play acting, they might start earning some of the money they get.

Re: Shearer.
No difference to the city pen given against us.
Just shows the big club biased refs.

Re: Shearer.
To be fair, Pope does catch the player in the City match but he seriously exaggerates the effect. Not sure Smith was even touched today although, as said earlier, if he hadn’t dived he would have no doubt been tripped and won a genuine penalty.Lowbankclaret wrote:No difference to the city pen given against us.

Re: Shearer.
So your saying there was no contact with Smith???
I think contact was inevitable.
Sorry to disagree

Re: Shearer.
Don't forget this is the Alan Shearer that "accidentally" kicked Neil Lennon in the head.

Yes I did.kaptin1 wrote:did you actually read my post?
My thoughts on the city pen is that the player moved his foot towards Pope, he could have avoided contact if he wanted to.
With Smith I don't think he could have avoided contact.
One was a pen and one was not, both decisions were wrong.
