Re: Anyone still looking at the bottom 3
Just focus on the next game.
I’ll stop looking at relegation once we’re mathematically safe.

Re: Anyone still looking at the bottom 3
At the moment, even thinking 'one game at a time' there's no need to look down as we can't move down the league, we can however look up to 4th

Re: Anyone still looking at the bottom 3
If I can play devil's advocate do you think the Board will use any dry powder if we are considered safe by mid January. Incidentally 12 points from Stoke Brighton, Spurs, ManUtd, Liverpool Huddersfield and Palace is a tall order IMO. Would be very happy to be on 35pts by thenEarbyClaret wrote:If we can win on Tuesday passing 30 points will be a huge psychological boost ahead of the Christmas programme. Being in a safe position in January should also have a positive impact on our transfer dealings. We also keep picking up points despite a succession of injuries to key players.
In other words, it's going to have take several things all to go wrong to really derail us. The way the club is managed and run very difficult to see that happening.

Very little chance of us being relegated now, a few more points and we can have a christmas without biting our fingernails down to the bone, i cant remember my nails being so long. As for the teams fighting relegation, im not too bothered as long as Brighton go out with a wimper, cant stand their deluded fans.

Yep. 35 would have been enough last season. Or even 34 and a better GD than Hull.Spijed wrote:History says 40 points is very rarely required....
More like 38 points will be enough.
It'll be much the same this time round.
The likes of Palace and Swansea getting more than TWICE the points they've
got now in the second half of the season? Allied to us having a complete collapse?
Not gonna happen. Relax, people.

I still look and work out how many points we are above danger, then I have a head wobble and read it again. In yesterdays paper it said West Brom were lining up Ben Mee as a January replacement for Evans, why would Ben want to leave us for West Brom just doesn't make sense to me, I will file that away under don't worry.

Re: Anyone still looking at the bottom 3
I'm still looking at the bottom 3. But Burnley won't be in it this season.
I think 2 out of the current bottom 3 will stay up. (Palace and West Ham) so if Huddersfield and Brighton stay up there may be a team or two that have been in the Prem a few years go down.
I wouldn't have thought any team would have previously been relegated having taken 28 points for their first 16?

Re: Anyone still looking at the bottom 3
No but after the Brighton game the next bunch of games are a real challenge to keep picking up points. So the points machine may well be
slowing down.
slowing down.

I still felt a bit upset when Palace got that late winner tonight. I just can't help it.

Haven't looked at the relegation spots since the start of September. Can't be bothered scrolling down that far

Why? It takes 3 points away from Watford.Stalbansclaret wrote:I still felt a bit upset when Palace got that late winner tonight. I just can't help it.
BBC: "How high can Burnley finish?" I think as high as Sean Dyche wants us to finish.

Re: Anyone still looking at the bottom 3
The female presenter on SSN just remarked that Burnley were pre season favourites with the bookmakers to finish BOTTOM of the PL.
A completely false statement.
Huddersfield were clear favourites with all bookmakers to finish bottom being as short as 7/4 (William Hill) Burnley could be backed at 11/2 along with Brighton.
Burnley could be backed at 10/1 for a top half finish.
Don't give much away the bookies.
A completely false statement.

Re: Anyone still looking at the bottom 3
I would be very worried if anyone isn’t thinking positive now. I have to assume those saying above that they still look at the bottom 3 are joking but I’ve been liaising with Lancaster on the Brexit threads so I know he isn’t
Logically, we have to assume minimum £10m more income than the budget would have in it, so let’s get it splashed in January. A wide man for £20m has to be deemed affordable now. The right man could lead to a profit on it too. Let’s kick on.

Re: Anyone still looking at the bottom 3
We're 17 or 18 points above the bottom three and quite a few
points above those in mid table so the chances of us going down must be close to zilch.
Can't see any bookies taking any bets.
But I'll continue to look a the bottom three out of interest to see who
does go down. Think Palace will stay up alongside West Ham.
Swansea and WBA could be in trouble and any one of 5/6 other teams.
And we won't be one of them!
Lovely feeling and it's not even Xmas.
