Ok, so as I’m feeling all full of festive cheer

Let’s play a game
How long today before our wonderful PL officials decide Spurs cannot be allowed to leave Turf Moor with nothing and take responsibility for stepping up and “awarding” the big boys with their first penalty?

Will it be an early nerve settler, say 20 minutes, or will panic set in around 88 minutes,with the score poised at 1-1?

For a bonus point, are we looking at dodgy handball decision or Kane sticking his trailing leg back 5 yards to wrap around Ben Mee’s boot, or possibly the slightest bodily contact leaving deli alli “entitled” to go down

Usually a good ref today although he has had a few bad decisions his way of late.

I respect that our refs have a tough job but players are just too good now at convincing them and/or applying pressure on them for 90 minutes that it seems inevitable at some point it will come

Since Matt Taylor hit the post v Leicester, we’ve had just one penalty at home in the Premier League in 29 games and that was when we were 3-0 up against Sunderland at the end of last year.

No pens at all for us in the league since Everton away last April.

In fairness, one of the things that I like about Oliver as a ref is that he is one of the few who doesn't automatically favour the 'big team'. (Cue a horror show now from him).

It's Sod's law that we will have a man sent off, probably for a foul on Kane or Ali, who shouldn't be playing anyway.

I'm still undecided if we are too honest or if we don't get in the box enough. We seemed to get a decent share in the Championship but possibly, arguably we were in the 'Big Boys' category.

No he isn’t. Alli was half way down before any contact was made. He dragged his left foot as he started past Long and then engineered the contact. Should have been yellow carded.

Yes but don't forget he was 'ENTITLED' to go down because he felt contact.

The game as we knew it or even want it isn't coming back until we descend to a lower level. The Premier League is an enigma and will keep rolling along favouring the fashionable teams because over all points of the compass outside the UK nobody is remotely interested in Burnley or Bournemouth or Swansea.

Exactly - he was touched, he threw himself over, that's a penalty all day long. If (for example) anyone had touched Barnes and Barnes had thrown himself over, no doubt Oliver would have given a penalty for that as well. Oh, hang on ...

Of course. If we are to stamp out blatant cheating there should be no exceptions. This disease is ruining football and I wish the FA had bigger bollocxs and the will to eradicate it whatever the cost.
