How about asking someone with a bit of influence if they could persuade the club to open up the bar in the JH Upper ?

Bridge, or anywhere really. Love Dave’s optimism and generosity. A true Claret!
Re: Meeting davemanu2000
To show what he means to the Claret fans, I suggest, at the Liverpool game, we have a round of applause for him on 20 mins 00 secs, as in davemanu 2000.

Re: Meeting davemanu2000
The miners is (I think) quite iconic. Synonymous with Burnley’s links to the drink “Benedictine”, which I’m sure he’s dying to try, and it’s a place he will well remember for it’s hospitality.
There’s a broad cross section of Clarets fans in there, from the next generation (kids) to those who remember the true greats like Pointer and McIlroy.
I’m sure there are those who can argue the point for ........ and that’s fair enough.
Just don’t take him on Monday afternoon. I fear he will never recover.

Think a minutes applause is a little OTT tbh
Think a message on the screen/half time announcement will be more appropriate

Re: Meeting davemanu2000
Would love to be there to meet him and chat about anything and everything, but can’t make it up for the game
Re: Meeting davemanu2000
It's fantastic he's coming to a game, the generosity of folk helping out is also great.
However, a suggestion for a minute applause is absolutely ridiculous. Ex pats come from all over the world to see us, there's also the Norweigan chaps. Yes Dave seems a lovely fella and isn't an ex pat but seriously!!!

Well I've bombed, decided on the ultimate tribute a tattoo went to a cheapo parlour I couldn't speak Romanian he couldn't speak English but we got there in the end. I passed out when needle started and when I came too I am the proud owner of a David Beckam modeling Manu boxer shorts.

Has Darren Bentley been alerted to this illustrious visit? The club would wish to mark his visit.

Re: Meeting davemanu2000
The club have sorted something out for the day, thanks to Darren Bentley.
Davemanu has to be at the club for about 1pm on Monday.
I'll be giving davemanu and his family a ring tomorrow to confirm what is happening Monday in regards to where and when I'm picking him up so I can get him to Burnley on time.

Apart from in Mauritius many years ago have you ever been to a Burnley game before?
Re: Meeting davemanu2000

Re: Meeting davemanu2000
cutsy123 - seriously wtf is your problem here ?
Is it not obvious that he is over here from Mauritius and some fans and the club are greeting him ?
You keep on making little snide comments - just stay off the thread if you are not interested.

I'll break it down for you.cutsy123 wrote:Wtf is goin on here really?
Davemanu lives in Mauritius.
It's very very rare that he gets to watch Burnley but he's always a positive person.
He also encourages Clarets to visit Mauritius and helps out with accomodation/deals when he can.
He's currently in the UK and asked for help in acquiring tickets for the Liverpool game.
Macca generously offered up his season tickets for free for that game, as did some others for the Spurs game.
A few of us on here have, between us, sorted out getting Dave up from the south to Burnley, somewhere to stay and also contacted the club to ensure that, with the help of Darren Bentley, matchday on Monday is going to be a special one for Davemanu regardless of the result.
Someone will then get him back to south Wales where his family is.
It's a collective effort and it's a really nice thing to see happening when you look at everything else going on around us in the world.

Re: Meeting davemanu2000
Thank you Sidney, well said.
He is a thoroughly nice and generous chap who makes more effort than some on here to watch a game live. He doesn't troll or go angling like some and hasn't got a bad word about anyone.
In fact in the last 20 years he's probably been to Turf Moor more often than I have.

Re: Meeting davemanu2000
Well put Sidney, a great gesture for a fan who has been a follower and supporter of our club for many years before many on this board were even born.
His posts are refreshing to read and a credit to him that at his age he is still able to travel from Mauritius to support the team he loves.
Hope he has a great time and the lads can give him a win with memories to retell with pride when he returns home.
You have my best wishes Dave.
