World Darts Championship

Post by FactualFrank » Thu Dec 14, 2017 3:33 pm

It starts tonight!

I fancied Snakebite as a decent bet at 14/1 until his recent illness and I think the pressure will get to Rob Cross if he gets to the latter stages. I've decided to go with Anderson at 7/1 as betting on MVG is a bit boring.

Tonight's games:

Steve Beaton v William O'Connor
James Wilson v Krzysztof Ratajski
Michael van Gerwen v Christian Kist
Gerwyn Price v Ted Evetts

Can't wait for the darts, other than the footy, it's the best bit about being off for 2 weeks over Xmas, nothing else is on

. doesn’t think anyone has done enough this year to raise his hopes that MVG won’t win the title.

He wonders if anyone has an update on Gary_Anderson’s back injury? He thinks Gary_Anderson may struggle if the problem is not 100% fixed - particularly in the longer format at this tournament.

Welcome back Jeremy.

I said I'd update you on ones darts ability a few weeks back, however it was nothing to write home about.
To say I've gone down hill is an understatement. I was gash.

MVG is the obvious winner, but their is no value in that.
Mensor Suljovic a good each way shout for me.
Gary Anderson would be my preferred winner.

Hope Anderson and Lewis go far.

Suljovic and Price in good form.

I love the look of Dimi van den Bergh and although I don't think he'll win it, I fancy him to shock Bunting and then progress! Also like Kyle Anderson.

What price is Taylor? Surely worth a few quid with him retiring after this.

I saw him at 16/1 but his run to the final is stupidly difficult.

I have read comments that Beaton is likened to having the look of a 70's film star of a certain genre.

Not quite sure what is meant by that.

I think just about all countries with the exception of britain and holland are up against it if they play in their own country....they just dont have to finish games in 12 or 15 darts like those in the pdc have to.....kyle Anderson left aussie for that reason and has improved....though he was only average today.

I wish they would tell the crowd to stop booing. All for a good atmosphere but booing an opponent when he needs a double is just too far.

Do not be surprised by the fact that Dimi Van den Bergh has now knocked out both Bunting and Sully without breaking sweat: he's a fantastic talent and a future World Champion. Top top player. Great to watch too.

Just made a good few quid on van den burgh knocking out suljovic....suljovic been woeful this week and didnt pressurise van den burgh enough......very sweet on Jamie Lewis tonight....don't think he can play to a 107 average again but shouldnt need to to beat richardson....Lewis been brilliant at grouping round the treble twenty and seems quite a calm sort.

Watched van den bergh earlier very impressive.Must admit he was my dark horse pick at the start. The key game is tomorrow night barney plays well against mvg usually,it could blow it wide open if he beats him.gives the punters on the big prices a great chance then! Think the longer format will suit him more though now mvg, think he will walk it but hoping not.

Yeah I'm thinking the same about Barney. It just depends which Barney turns up, but hope he wins. This evening should be good. Taylor vs Keegan Brown.

MVG was apparently not feeling well last night ( or so he said )....Barney hasnt been pushed yet and still has a few points to go on his already decent averages....I think mvg is around 1/6 to beat Barney....wouldnrt want to be taking those odds....in fact at those prices I will back Barney and if he leads trade out to get a profit on the match....can see the game being a real classic and Barney has a real chance providing mvg doesn't turn up with a 115 average as he can do..
I think van den burgh should get a set or perhaps 2 against Cross but he still looks a bit nervous at times and beating an underperforming Suljovic doesn't mean he can beat Cross who will almost certainly produce a 100 plus average tomorrow.
I think Jamie Lewis will win tonight and should have too much scoring power for Webster IF and ( if is a big word ) he can maintain his form.
Taylor should be playing Anderson in the final quarter.....on paper I like Anderson but the crowd could be a huge factor in this on potentially Taylors final appearance on the world finals stage....I am on Anderson ante post at 9/1 so wont be betting on this match....just hope the best man wins and its not down to the crowd....utc.

Anderson looked in a lot of pain tonight....I think Taylor will beat him tomorrow...would have been a tough call without the injury but a potentially long match tomorrow is not what Anderson needs....just had some 6/1 for Taylor to win the whole thing...its possible Anderson may not even play tomorrow if its as bad as it looks.

I know he has a natural raspy voice but he could at least try not to have a siezure everytime 180 is scored.

Case in point, he just screamed again 'WAHHHHHHAAAAAAAAATEEEEEEDE'

Well played Rob Cross, did little wrong, is British and faced a torrent of boo's from the idiots in the crowd.

Van den Bergh could have walked it if he wasn't so nervous. I'm sure he will be back.

Those nerves could really be a problem for him...he has been on the scene a little while now.......I think that Lewis is the dangerman now....he said after his match he feels like he almost has a free stab at it with no pressure.....got a sneaking feeling that mvg will not win this year....big big match for him tonight against Barney who is playing consistently well....if he beats Barney and its a barn stormer he may struggle to reach the same heights for the semi against Cross who will relish being underdog instead of hot fav like today......thats sure to be a tough game then its Anderson, Lewis or Taylor in the final.....anyone facing Taylor will have to beat the crowd as well and as said before Lewis has a free stab at this and with the exception of his game with Richardson where he didnt relish being the hot fav he has been as good as anyone this week......as far as Anderson is concerned its all down to that injury....perhaps he has had pain killers....would not put anyone off taking the 20 available for JAMIE LEWIS on betfair to win the whole thing.....if he beats Taylor/Anderson he would probably be around 4/1 if playing mvg in final and less than that if Barney or Cross.

MVG will always have consistency over Barney. Sure, MVG can have poor sets but he rarely has poor matches. Whereas Barney can be brilliant some sets, but sometimes he just couldn't hit a cow's backside with a banjo.

I've not seen all of this match, but if you can't hit your doubles or you keep putting your darts into 5 or 1, you don't deserve to win.

Barney has been consistency on stilts this week frank
102...103 and 101 prior to todays game...would imagine something just slightly lower than that in this game due to their nervy starts.

I'm on about his general play, not just this match.

MVG can get nearer to his peak much more often than Barney.
