Samu Saiz (Leeds) gets six match ban

Post by ClaretTony » Mon Jan 08, 2018 11:27 am

Sent off yesterday by Mike Dean. TV cameras didn't pick anything up but apparently sent off for spitting at an opponent. He's landed himself a six match ban.

Serves him right the filthy git. If there is one thing I can't abide it's flobbing on a sports pitch, particularly when it is aimed at another person. Bloody obnoxious habit...

Nothing worse and he deserves all he gets. Watch Leeds appeal it.

Spot on Hendrickxz - spitting at an opponent is as low as it gets. It's one of the things the old Revie team used to do and get away with it.

Outrageous. How can a player for the biggest team in the world get such a lengthy ban?

They were also spitting at our players, pulling their hair and grabbing their b0ll0cks. One of our players spilled the beans on it all in the following week. Wouldn't be right to say which player but he played up front, scored twice, one an overhead kick and then years later became our chief exec. :D

I can never understand why footballers feel the need to spit so much during a game. Can't think of any other sport where this happens.

Besides crippling one of that team, the said player told me the same, including them stamping their boot down on his foot numerous times. One of the many doing it, was an obnoxious blonde haired striker who also played for England. Probably doing it to keep our player from taking his England shirt.
That Dirty Leeds side wanted to win at all costs, which in my mind is worse than today's players feigning a foul, to gain an advantage.

Some of us must salivate more than others then, Leisure.Watch the biathlon on Eurosport and they all finish with dribble from their nose and mouth down to their chest.
There is a difference though between getting rid of excess saliva, the fastest way possible, and grolching up a nasty one to deposit on an opponent.
6 matches and a hefty kick to the scrotum would have been my justice.

As Max Boyce used to say "I know, I was there!" I also remember keeping a very low profile and my gob firmly shut as we returned to my mate's Austin A35 outside Elland Rd....

Has he got previous for it? 6 games seems a bit rough, especially when violent conduct like punching or elbowing a player would only garner 3 games. Disgusting as spitting is, I don’t see how it’s any worse than punching another player.

Why hasn’t Slimani been cited? He lashed out with a back stamp on Saturday. I think minute 74?

I was at Ellend road that day and saw Dougie Collins get spat at. I'm struggling to remember who did it now but think it might have been Bremner.

Appeal defence: "I was clearing my throat - as we all do - and unfortunately, the player stood right in the way of my spit. He was so quick - breathtaking. I could not avoid him".

He was accused of spitting earlier this year by an opposing manager, think a tie in the 1st or 2nd round of the League Cup but the case got dismissed.

Maybe that’s the reason the ban was so severe. Still seems a bit harsh if the previous case was dismissed.

Horrible if true, and fully deserving of 6 matches.

I was there too and every chance it was Billy Brenner. Although there would be many others ' in the frame'.

Right at the top of his game when that happened. Pulling all the strings in the game and who knows what his latter days as a footballer might have provided for him and us.

Sad thing was, that lot could play a bit.

Horrible club, horrible players, horrible fans. Not the first `spitter` they have had. Dirty diouf was there for a while, the most perfect player/club match ever.

Everything about them is just classless.

Spitting at someone is worse than smacking them one imho. I'm no hard case, or super hard tough guy, but If someone cracked me one, if I was still conscious, they'd get one (or more) back. If someone spat in my face, i'd beat them until I fell unconscious from exhaustion.
