Yes, but the quote that you refer to was in response to a question about town teams. (At least that was my interpretation)
It's not particularly difficult to work out that the city clubs are close together.

There used to be a football match called East v West Burnley back in the 70s for the best 10 and 11 year old players from each schools in the Burnley area..I played for the East which was mostly kids from Barden. Stoneyholme. Heasandford, St Johns. The West was Tod road St Marys and few others that i do not remember now.We got a certificate for playing in the game was quite proud at the time.
Anyone else play in this game?
Remeber the Hartley Cup played between the Burnley Primary schools as well.Shame theres no school teams like there used to be.
Then the Keighley Cup played on the Turf used to get some big crowds. St Teds used to win it most of the time

No, West Burnley would still be Clampitts and Dingles. They'd call us the AbdulsBarstewardsEnquiry wrote:Would the fans from East Burnley (Nelson, Brierfield) side be classed as clampets and dingles?

They had everything back then, football, cross country running, snooker table tennis darts. In the back room in the late 70s there was a disco but they also played Punk Rock music.

If you openly admit to liking French cheese, you deserve to get your head kicked in.bfcjg wrote:We are moving away from the trouble bit. If I am browsing continental cheeses in the chiller counter of Aldi resplendent in my Burnley top of Claret and blue would an oik from the East side of Burnley resplendent in his top of Blue and claret threaten and abuse me and mock my choice of Brie because I am outward looking as opposed to his choice of Burnley weavers FC (or whatever) and a Lancashire crumbly ?

If one was in the Premier League with a rich owner and the other a League 1 struggler owned by a local, might be interesting.
