Arsenals incredible record remains
Re: Liverpool v City
Will probably remain for the next 100 years at least, incredible achievement.4:20 wrote:Arsenals incredible record remains
Edit: Someone will be along shortly to downplay the achievement because Arsenal used the transfer market, Leicesters title win didn't count because they got a new stadium and Bournemouth's promotions don't count because they also used the transfer market for 2 of them. Bitter Burnley fans

This game just shows how it's getting into miracle territory when an unbeaten season happens. One slip up and it's over, one bad half, one bad 10 minute spell.KRBFC wrote:Will probably remain for the next 100 years at least, incredible achievement.

Re: Liverpool v City
About 5, saw him for a young German side a few times too. Look at his return this season, it's the best return of his life, he's nearly averaging a goal or an assist every time he starts.Hapag Lloyd wrote:How many times did you see him play for Schalke ?

Re: Liverpool v City
Sane's worst season for goals per start was last season which is understandable as he was getting up to scratch with the Premier League.
He didn't start many in 2014-15 for Schalke but when he did scored very similar ratio to this season.
I don't have figures for assists so he may have improved there but that's to be expected as his game develops with good coaching and being surrounded by more experienced players.
Edit
He actually scored 5 goals last season in the league.
And either 7 or 8 this season depending on when goal scorer chart was updated.
Also has 9 assists this season although this figure may need updating.

Well that was a great game to watch.
Some really good football on show and Ox could well be an ideal replacement for Coutinho.

If you're comparing seasons. Goals per start in the league.
7 starts. 3 goals. 42.86%
23 starts. 8 goals. 34.8%
26 starts(?) 5 goals 3 assists. 19.23%
As of 21 starts (@using the figures I currently have) 7 goals plus what did you say 5 assists? 33%
This is comparing like for like.
Take out the first season if you like as he only made 7 starts and is therefore probably statistically irrelevant.
23 starts. 34.8%
26 starts 19.23 % but was first season in PL and started slowly and was much improved in second half of season
21 starts 33%
As you say he's contributing more with assists. And his general play has probably improved which is difficult to quantify.

Do we really need him?
I'd say we need Wood back more than a bloke who's barely played for 2 seasons and is probably not quite a full 90 mins fit yet.
That's just my opinion though.

Re: Liverpool v City
I have no problem with the idea that Leroy Sane has improved massively under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.
But please if people are going to use stats at least compare season by season not one half season against the rest of the career as if you do that you might look at his 3 goals in 7 starts in his first season as the highlight of his career that hasn't quite reached the same heights again. That would be just as bad.
I'm trying to find his assist stats at Schalke but seems difficult to find.

City have worked miracles on a shoestring budget, using the loan market and promoting from within.

Re: Liverpool v City
Why do they need to do that when they're owned by a country? It's like people expect them to use the loan market and free transfers and put themselves at a disadvantage for the sake of it when they're competing to win trophies against sides who spend more than them. They're not trying to survive in the Championship...bfcjg wrote:City have worked miracles on a shoestring budget, using the loan market and promoting from within.

Definite foul on Stones. Nowhere near shoulder to shoulder. Took a risk and got away with it. With today's referees any foul is worth a risk.

One thing Dyche is better at Klopp though is the ability to teach players how to keep their defensive shape when pressing.UpTheBeehole wrote:Klopp was winning the Bundesliga playing that football before Dyche even became a manager.
Conceding goals has cost Liverpool a number of times, whereas we are more capable of keeping clean sheets. They aren't.

Klopp practices gegenpressing. Dyche doesn't. Burnley fall back into position and defend that way.
