No children, not even autistic ones, should be allowed to run around cafes bumping into people. People with walking sticks and brittle bones have a right to be there, too.

tim,You keep banging on about this but I'm struggling to remember when this rule was brought in.
Must have been after the Costa-Shawcross incident.

Ali was banned for his gesture to the ref not a player.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Jay was charged for what the authorities may construe as a 'racist gesture'.

So why do you think Costa wasn't Charged for his 'Stink' gesture towards Shawcross ?

Jeez, the world has gone soft if we’re on about somebody complaining that someone called them smelly!! What if they are smelly? You can’t discipline someone for speaking the truth just because the truth may hurt!!

If jay has been racist then he deserves to be severely punished. I just haven’t seen any evidence yet other than him holding his nose which, in itself isn’t racist.

How can it be construed as a racist gesture ?

On seeing it again - Jay made his gesture after the other player was up close in his face and mouthing something which seems like it could be a reference to his breath smelling. If not then assume it was a reference to his body odour.

Childish yes - racist ? How can it be ?

The one finger salute is accepted as being a negative gesture like the 2 finger is, its just that normally its not seen by several million people.
My wife thinks its a bad thing to do and said if it want an ex Burnley player I would too, I apparently replied to that in an passive aggressive manor and that I also apparently said that Bong looked to have caught Jay across the face and even if he did not mean to hurt Jay he knew what he was doing and if that is so surely Jay has the right to say what he feels or make a mildly offensive gesture if Bong does not pong but if he does hes just demonstrating a factual point.

So we had a silent tea and she said she had jobs to in her craft room and I was forced to sit on my own watching United v Stoke, until she brought me a mug of coffee as the game finished and all was well in our camp. So good result in the end

I think you may have misinterpreted my post.
I wasn't suggesting that Jay had been racist, just that Bong's statement could well be taken as fact by the F.A.

Well I’d expect Jay to sue the arse off them if they just accept it as fact without any corroborating evidence. Whether it is in a court of law or a disciplinary situation you need actual evidence you know, not just word on word.

If you're asking me,no.Not watched mot'd yet.

My thought is that If Jay did not actually use racist verbals Bong as obviously taken offence at his 'stink gesture' and being a vindictive sod he his claiming it was racist.

Just watched it again and they were nose to nose just before this. I have just noticed though that I am pretty sure that Jay said something to Bong.
There are no other players or officials close enough to hear anything and it looks impossible to read what he said from any camera angle so it's looking like Jays word against Bongs.

Not got a clue how they resolve this but I would be absolutely amazed if Jay has said anything racist given his background.

Still think it was a childish gesture at the lads breath stinking

One thing you've got to say is that Jay-Rod doesn't come across as the sharpest tool in the box with regards to making any sort of gesture. With all the camera angles it was bound to get picked up and he would be well advised in future to keep his opinions to himself.

Tweet by Sky’s Rob Dorsett:

“#wba Jay Rodriguez is consulting lawyers over how best to protect his reputation, after #bhafc def Gaetan Bong accused him of using racist language against him. Rodriguez said to be distraught and adamant no racist remark was made. FA inquiry ongoing.”

Distraught was the word I used yesterday earlier in this thread. It doesn’t surprise me.

In rugby union you can't even speak to the ref out of turn, otherwise you get banned for quite a few games.

Not sure why you would describe Jay like that
Any player who commits any offence on or off the ball is not at that moment thinking about all the cameras. Do you think Tarks was thinking about the cameras when he gave Murray a dig ?

It's not Rugby Union either. I think I'd prefer a bit of dissent than allowing somebody to poke your eye out in a scrum and getting a bit of a telling off !

The point is, Jay-Rod by making the gesture, and apparently saying something to Bong beforehand (which the cameras can't make out), hasn't helped himself.

It's happened thousands of time on a football pitch.
Nobody is saying what he did isn't wrong but it's very quickly getting blown out of all proportion.

What's the difference between this gesture and a player making a diving gesture to another player suggesting he was a cheat ? Or Joey Barton's gesture to Zlatan about his big nose ?

Because making a gesture implying someone has questionable dental hygiene is comparable to using offensive language about someone's race, religion, skin colour, mental capacity, disability.

As with Spijed, you can x"&+ off too.

No it isn't comparable whatsoever.
Poor dental hygiene is self inflicted.
