I don't think the term 'wogs' has been dubbed or edited out as yet.
It wasn't the last time I saw it anyway.

A question that has very little to do with the original post which had nothing to do with people being offended by homosexuals kissing on tv. Deliberately manipulating the topic to show what a "right on" guy you are. Must be hard keeping that up all the time.

Porridge is another sit com where a few very mild derogatory terms have been edited out.
Pathetic!

Too many people looking to be offended. If you don't like stuff or find it offensive don't watch it.

Alf Garnett! I used to love that character. Then it was Victor Meldrew.

This article is just another stick to beat young people with.
Friends was a very well written TV show. It did suffer from a lack of diversity, but then it reflected the lack of diversity of the well off New York middle class it was supposed to portray.
However articles like this are just designed to stir up conflict between generations, as you can see in this comments section.

I don't know loads of 'millennials' but I'm fairly sure none of the ones I do know are offended by a s**t 90s sitcom. Do people who write stuff about millennials and snowflakes actually know any? Cos they sound like they spend nearly all their time talking to other grumpy, frightened middle aged people, reinforcing their prejudices, rather than speaking to anyone younger than them.
In my day, the grumpy old sods of the time moaned about us all taking drugs and listening to 'shed building' music. Everyone resents the next generation and wants to ridicule or put them down, mostly just because they're young and will decide the future while we get old and bitter and whinge in the comments section about stuff like this.

I'm 33 and that makes me a millenial. I grew up as a teenager when Friends was at it's peak. I can assure you, you are at least one generation too early. We came before the vlogging, vaping, non-binary, self-absorbent, self-entitled kids who are ultra sensitive.

I'm 44, and I think thats a bit unfair.

People on the right mock people on the left for getting offended by old TV shows which at the same time themselves getting offended by modern TV shows. If you can't see the relevance in what i said and the parallel i was drawing then that's a
you problem, not a
me problem.

1) Don't confuse left and right politics to equate to the same thing as political correctness. Not all Tory voters are homophobic, sexist etc and not all labour voters are 'right on' lovies who get upset at old episodes of Fawlty Towers.
2) Who is offended by modern TV shows? Not many people that I can gather and if they are they can switch channel. It was you who tried to change the emphasis of the thread onto that point which is a completely different issue than the original post.

I think this issue is blown out of proportion by the right to exaggerate the issue and to make the left look silly. Doesn't help those people who are genuinely offended tend to shout the loudest. Also stories like this are click bate.
Equally I think people being offended by homosexuality on TV is exaggerated by the left, although to a lesser extent.
Let face it how many people have you met that are genuinely offended by Friends? How many people have you met that are offended by homosexuality on TV?
Most people are normal

I didn't try to change any emphasis. You only think i did.
And i didn't say anything of the sort regarding Tory voters or Labour voters. I said SOME on the right are reactionary bigots who get upset at the liberal media for displaying scenes of homosexual affection and mixed-race relationships in exactly the same way that SOME on the left get upset at old TV shows that make what would now be considered racist or homophobic jokes. If you can't understand how those two facts are relevant to this thread then i suggest you spend some time thinking about it.

My kids are early teens and they're just the same as the rest of us.
They're slightly uneasy watching heterosexual kissing (not offended).
They think two men kissing is a little embarrassing and slightly funny(not offended).
They are strangely attentive when two women are kissing (not in the least offended).
Notts is right - we sometimes just wish we were young again.

With my post, I pretty much did what Notts said we all do, regarding criticising the next generation!
