New signings by Wednesday?
There doesn't seem to be much going on transfer wise atm. I was convinced we'd buy a CB this month, very surprised it hasn't happened already.
Still hoping to get a nice surprise before Wednesday night...

Re: New signings by Wednesday?
I expect we've done background on some potential squad CBs (not straight into first team type) and will wait until Wednesday and see what transpires.
Dyches is always keen to stress how many layers and variables there are to transfers.

Really? For a midfielder his goals to games ratio is quite good, although at Austrian league level.billyhamilton82 wrote:Christoph Knasmullner linked

I read that name and was trying to find the hidden word/words - thought it might have been an anagram.

I personally think that with Wood apparently still some time away from a return that we need a striker in pdq

Number 10/Striker and a CB will be on route, or certainly the best endeavours too anyway.
To coin a Cutsy phrase.

Weve made 2 good signings early in the window.Had we signed both GKN and Lennon at 11 pm deadline day people would be delighted.

NKoudou, Lennon and a new contract for the manager and his team - whatever happens on Wednesday, this has been a superb window.Reecey1987 wrote:Dont get your hopes up

We should offer Celtic £15 million for Dembele.

How about Jonny Evans for £20 million.
Re: New signings by Wednesday?
It seems that, so far, Brighton have made the only offer of £12 million.ClaretTony wrote:Why? They've turned down more than that haven't they?
This lad is good and should be playing in the PL. Celtic obviously don't want to lose him but money talks and we might need to move on to 'better quality' players in the £15 -25 million price range if we want to establish ourselves as a top 10 PL club.

Re: New signings by Wednesday?
I’ve a sneaky feeling we’ll get one or two in.
Re: New signings by Wednesday?
I`m sure this is the approach the club is going to follow.ClaretTony wrote:Don't disagree with that at all - we will need to do that if we want to be established in this league
Aaron Lennon might not of cost £15m to £20m but he is of that quality and experience.
If we bring nobody else in this window it will not be because we are abandoning the approach of improving the team - it will be simply because the club has not found the type of player it wants or is not prepared to get ripped off by clubs wanting ridiculous money for young lads who have had half a good season.
One thing for sure is Burnley cannot afford to make lots of £15m - £20m mistakes like plenty of other clubs who sit below us in the table have made. Its easy to say we should sign players at this value - but I don`t see many names mentioned of who we should buy.
As we see those teams fighting relegation and breaking their transfer records buying players that very few of us have heard of and who are untried and untested in the Premier League I for one am very happy that we are not in the position where we have to look at these panic buys....because 3 of these teams will still go down.
I`m still in shock at the Newcastle wage bill that Royboy quoted on another thread - £115m compared to our last reported wage bill of £45m. How many of that Newcastle team would get in our Burnley team ?
Some of our fans need to be careful what they wish for.

Re: New signings by Wednesday?
The club havent said we are done which leads me to think we are working on something.
As KRBFC has just said though - what about getting rid of some? We definitely have a few that might be fancying a move due to getting splinters in their arse and might bring us good money in (Westwood, for example, has barely played this season and cost us £5m and no doubt on a fairly big salary, even Vokes might be getting to the point where he is considering his future). Arfield hasn’t yet signed a new deal and was being linked with a move, and that was BEFORE we brought in Lennon and N’Koudou.
There may be a shock departure.....

Westwood is 1 injury away from being a guaranteed starter. If Cork or Defour get injured he will definitely take their place.
Therefore he will NOT be leaving any time soon.

If we want something different, we should take a punt on a loan deal for Charly Musonda Jr.
Small, technical, quick and gifted number 10, currently courted by Celtic.

We need some European signings in before Wednesday otherwise I fear the CL places are out of reach.
Re: New signings by Wednesday?
I'd definitely move out Wells and Vokes to make room for another striker, we currently have 5 strikers for 1 position, we're top heavy and lacking real quality still in that area.jedi_master wrote:The club havent said we are done which leads me to think we are working on something.

With Reading on their knees a bid for Liam Moore would be worthwhile-both for cover and competition. He signed a new deal around the time of the play-offs but must be disillusioned right now, having been in the lower leagues since his first team place with the Foxes. Reading dropping into the relegation zone too

It'd be daft to get shut of Westwood. Very good player.
And as someone says, a midfield injury would leave us
short in that department if he went.

Re: New signings by Wednesday?
With Lennon and Nkoudou on board (plus Scotty) time to try JBG behind Barnes. Saw glimpses of this at Leicester and he might prove the answer. Maybe not starting there in a game, but if we go behind bring one of our now more orthodox wingers on and bring JBG more central.

If I was a betting man is say they'll be at least 1 arrival.
Maybe even 2.
I heard potentially 2 going out, that will probably only be 1 now, and I think it'll be Ulvestad.

If Newcastle can get that deal done for the Scandinavian lad I'd love us to sneak in and pip Brighton for Mitrovic. Wants away, completely a Dyche type of striker, only 23, £10-£15mill, possible Scotty Arf interest from Newcastle.
Benitez says not selling to a rival but are we a rival anymore?

We dont want a Dyche type striker, we need a Howe type striker
Re: New signings by Wednesday?
I think Walters would have been moved on this month if it wasn't for his injury. Not sure why Ulvestad is still at the club to be honest. Maybe a loan move for Marney with the option of a recall? Would love us to push the boat out for a really good striker, we certainly don't need another workhorse like Mitrovic.

Ulvestaad will never play for Burnley's first team, however he is under no pressure to move and could run his contract down. Does seem like the waste of a squad number now.

Re: New signings by Wednesday?
For me Ulvestad needs either selling (if somebody wants him) or simply having his contract paid up and released before the deadline (thereby allowing him the chance o find a club after the deadline!). At the very least he needs removing from the PL squad to free up his place.
Walters could, for me anyway, be removed from the squad for the rest of the season- simply as he isn’t fit to play so let’s get another squad place cleared for an incoming signing (potentially).
I can see either Barnes or Vokes leaving- simply because I think that a club will come in for them. More likely Vokes in my eyes. If this does happen then I’d like to think that we’ve got somebody lined up to replace them.
Arfield is the “big” question mark. Is he going to sign a new contract or not? If he isn’t then are we willing to let him leave at the end of the season on a free transfer? Alternately will we look to get some money for him to put towards a loan/permanent move for another player?
Finally depending on how close to fitness Tom is are we likely to see either Lindegaard or more likely Legdzins leave the club?
The next few days could be very interesting....
