Out of interest, I wonder whether these women who call for these types of ban are attractive or not or whether they are frumpy have short hair, wear cardigans and flat shoes?TheFamilyCat wrote:The Women's Sport Trust tweeted: "We applaud the Professional Darts Corporation moving with the times and deciding to no longer use walk-on-girls. Feminists supporting women being denied employment. I think that really is PC gone mad.

Re: Walk on girls at the darts
The PC and the Health and Safety brigades are slowly squeezing every bit of risk and fun out of life whilst the rest of us just sit and watch on, powerless it seems to prevent it or even slow down the momentum of change.
Re: Walk on girls at the darts
Perhaps they could be on the stage handing darts one at a time to said athletes as they throw them. Cooing noises and purring would help as well as phrases such as ohh your so clever ,what a shot ,how do you add up so quick, your tips red hot today and normally when I get a double its got Bacardi in it.
Sorted keeps the birds in work and most vitally pleases the feminists as well.

Tell me about it. God forbid some of the blokes may actually be attracted to the women and enjoy the female form. And to think some of the women may actually like all the ogres oggling them and being the focus of attention.Squarepusher wrote:I think my favourite thing about all of this is people pretending that their primary concern is the poor women being put out of work.
Horrible red blooded hetro bloody men. And evil pretty girls using there bodies like that.

I think it's a shame because these girls have got themselves well fit and are happy to earn money through that fitness.
Exactly who, at a darts competition, could be offended?

Re: Walk on girls at the darts
Rather than banning the girls it would have been more fun to have the occasional buff-looking boy parading in front of the darts fans. After all there's bound to be folk (women, gay men, suppressed homosexuals, and let's face it straight men like yours truly) who would appreciate it.

No, because then there would be people complaining that the female is on the left or the right and it would be against right and left handed people. They would both have to alternate every 3 seconds.Bfcboyo wrote:How about male at one side female at the other its all even then.

Especially for the spectators. All that sitting down for ages while smoking loads of fags and drinking beer. Oh noes, I forgot. The filthy Marxists/femnazis/snowflakes banned smoking, didn't they. They'll be banning beer next if they get their way.Bfcboyo wrote:They should bloody ban darts anyway. Its just dangerous.

Most bookmaker sponsored sporting events employ female models to enhance the event including major horse race meetings.
With several big NFL games to be played in England I wonder if the cheerleaders and their pompoms have been told not to bother boarding the plane.

That's a pretty dumb way of looking at it. There's nothing wrong with feminists supporting both the right of women to do what they want while at the same time opposing the encouragement of female objectification.TheFamilyCat wrote:The Women's Sport Trust tweeted: "We applaud the Professional Darts Corporation moving with the times and deciding to no longer use walk-on-girls. Look at it this way. Your criticism of feminists here would be like criticising people who support job growth and vocally advocate it, while at the same time supporting job cuts in a business or government because they also support being fiscally responcible/efficient. Would you criticise the government for eliminating extraneous jobs while they also say they'll create jobs? No. Because they're not mutually exclusive, just like it's not mutually exclusive to want exploitative jobs that encourage objectification eliminated while at the same time allowing people to do what they want.

You're not a male feminist? Do you not support gender equality? Are you someone who thinks that men are superior and should benefit from attitudes of their superiority? I mean. ok. But if you do believe men and women should be treated equally then you're a feminist too.

You could argue by performing a half time dance routine they actually have some kind of entertainment purpose beyond just being eye candy.Hipper wrote:What about those cheerleaders at Palace?
The walk on girls however serve no function beyond that.

The fact is the Crystal Palace Cheerleaders are “eye candy”. Do you really think if someone looked like the late Bella Emberg they would have been employed.CombatClaret wrote:You could argue by performing a half time dance routine they actually have some kind of entertainment purpose beyond just being eye candy.

The reality is looks sell whether they be male or female, Hollister apparently only employ someone based on their looks. The Walk on Girls are employed to promote their product and the decision whether to employ them should be made solely on whether people watch the darts because of them which I very much doubt. The decision to employ them or not shouldn’t be based around if they objectify woman as technically the Hollister guy employed has been objectified.
Re: Walk on girls at the darts
How rubbish has your sport got to be to need walk-on girls, nicknames, entrance music, and football chants to make it watchable? It's basically WWE except everyone is fat and nobody gets put through a table and we don't get to see Braun Strowman trying to kill half the locker room every episode.

Genders simply aren't equal though, equal rights to vote etc, fine but without stereotyping, both genders excel in different areas.Imploding Turtle wrote:You're not a male feminist?
