No one's in short sleeves though, unless they've got a jumper underneath it.
It can only be Man City or Blackpool for me.

Blackpool in that season was a night match, making it only City. I’d just have expected more to be wearing coats for that game?
There is a child in short sleeve shirt around the 11 o clock mark on the picture. Would a parent allow that in January? I can’t see it. Maybe I’m wrong, but seems more of an easter time picture?

It's Maidstone 89-90 John Francis was sent off after a mass brawl, where Deary tried to knockout one of their guys.

Aldershot was the game where Deary chinned one of their players. He got a 5 match ban.

I know there was talk of us fiddling the attendance, but everyone must have been in the Beehole that day then.

If the picture was taken late in the game then half the Longside would be stood on the Bee Hole waiting for the quick getaway.

For me it doesn't look like the migration that used to happen there.

Love these pics. It's amazing how many people you recognise even though you don't actually know them. Just from seeing them stood in the same place week after week. Never understood why anyone chose to stand on the bee hole. Poorer view and uncovered. Used to be ridiculous trying to squeeze through that gate between the Longside and the beehole to get off at the end of a match.

Just spotted this one Nottingham forest away 90, when a young Roy Keane played.

And they had bad refs even then.

Honestly don't remember to much about the game mate. I do recall the Police holding our coach back and we arrived about 5 minutes late.
Remember Mumby's goal apart from that's it's about my lot. Got a shot of Davis leaving the pitch I assume injured and one shot of Keane.

Who were the opposition in this game? I'm sure that's me and my dad stood on a barrier where the terrace is elavated / large step? That was our usual spot in them days. Steve Taylor, Steve Davies and Ashley Hoskin players in the photo. Is the other one Mark Monington
Was in the Longside bee hole corner when darlo came in, the police thought they'd be ok on the bee hole! They got another hiding on there too.

Players look like Ray Deakin, Mark Monington, Steve Davis (Mk1) and Brendan O'Connell

Ok yes, Deakin wearing 11 threw me and I guess Taylor left or hardly played following the Wembley season. Got Mk 1 right and thought that was Monington probably playing as a centre mid. Then again Deakin could have been centre half, that's how it was in them days!! Not worrying if Steve Gardner was touch or go!

Not sure on numbers that night but although this isn't the best pic in the world, it gives an idea of the size of the away following.

They had a section towards the away part of the Longside, a bit like the home fans have now but smaller, maybe half the size. I could have sworn that away fans could have up to 800 seats if they required it? Most pics of that time you can see totally empty seats at that far side of the stand.
Blackpool had free coaches laid on by Oyston for that match I think.

I couldn’t see it at first, probably because of the colours used, but I think there’s a word in the middle saying ‘up’, making it Play Up Burnley.

No they didn’t. They had the far side near to the Longside. We had a good number of season ticket holders in the stand, including me in the centre. Other than Man City in 1991 we didn’t give the CFS up to any club during that time.

The Rovers takeover when they brought 123,000 fans was 1977 and Jackanory Jim spins a fantastic yarn at the link.

I've read that shite before. They did come in their droves in 1977 and did take the p1ss in town a bit as well.
However him telling how they attached themselves to the Celtic game and this little beauty..... ' with a national and international profile befitting the historical stature of Blackburn Rovers' , tells you that he's an up his own arsehole bellend.

If so I remember them being in the Cricketfield for that one. Not sure if they had the lot mind.
As mentioned above, Bamber scored in the 1-1 in our promotion season. It was a VERY wet Saturday afternoon and a huge crowd for 4th Division footy (19,000 ish). Eli scored for us and they equalised pretty much straight from the re start. The match in question was actually the season before and was a night game. We'd had a few good results and were looking like making the play offs and the huge numbers turning up from both clubs caught the club and the police out I think. There was havoc at the away turnstiles I heard with many Seasiders getting in for free in the crush. Oyston really did lay on free transport which helped swell their ranks. Couldn't imagine him doing it now!!!
