I could try and use science to explain it, but you wouldn't understand if you already believe that the earth is flatstarting_11 wrote:Prove its not then

Re: Flat Earthers
No argument either way, everyone knows the Earth is a Mobius Strip. One surface with one side and one boundary but walk in any direction and eventually you will end up where you started.

Flat earth ? Just lol
So all the photos/videos/images sent from space-stations/satellites etc are fake then?
It's all just one big conspiracy?

It's up to you to prove it is flat starting_11.
The accepted wisdom from the finest minds on earth over the last thousand years or so suggests it's round.

I would love to hear a flatearther prove that the word ISN'T round.

I saw a great idea on Twitter the other day.
A TV show with flat earthers racing each other to find the edge with a $10 billion for the first to find it.

The earth's shadow on the moon during a lunar eclipse is always round. If the earth was flat then sometimes the shadow would just be a straight strip down the middle of the moon.

Re: Flat Earthers
Questions: if the earth is flat how do we keep the sea in? And what happens to the contestants in the round the world yacht race? Why has a plane never disappeared off the edge, or a ship. What exactly does a manned spacecraft orbit? Why does it even have to be flat? Is it because FEBs don't believe in gravity?
I could go on but I'm fed up of throwing doubt on a ridiculous theory.

If the earth is flat, why is it dark outside my house now in Australia, and daylight in the UK? Light travels in straight lines, and I should be able to see the sun 24/7. Or is that fake as well?

6 months light in the summer and 6 months darkness in the winter and vice versa for the north and south poles (actually proven by people, real people, visiting there) - this model doesn't show that, it shows a daily change in light and dark for each pole.Tall Paul wrote:

A good thread to show that well over 99% of the human race isn't particularly good at original thought.

Re: Flat Earthers
your stats dont add up Rowls, there's only been 30 or so replies which indicates that if 1 person is capable and has demonstrated it then the statement should be "approx 97% of the human race isn't particularly good at original thought"... unless you mean 100% of the human race isn't particularly good at original thought which is well over 99%, by all of 1%...Rowls wrote:A good thread to show that well over 99% of the human race isn't particularly good at original thought.

Re: Flat Earthers
Gerardus Mercators cylindrical projection in 1569 was the first map to be laid out on a
flat piece of paper. This was seized on by the flat earthers of the time
as proof the Earth was flat, but it was basically to help mariners navigate.
(Mercators map is the one many of us used at school...the one on the rubber roller
you inked and rolled in your exercise book.)
He was almost executed as a heretic and traitor a few times, but his map persists as the norm today,
despite more modern projections like Robinson and Gall-Peters, but both of these distort the polar regions.
Mercator is also thought to have first used the term "atlas" for a book of maps.
Having said that, i much prefer the idea of the world being supported on the back
of a giant turtle.

The "Earth" is the simulated mainframe's desktop area. It's a handy storage area for us data files.ClaretAndJew wrote:What's Earth? And are we not all in a computer simulation anyway?
There's also at least two other mainframes running meta-simulations. Nobody knows which one we're in. Oddly enough these mega-computers are all flat.

Re: Flat Earthers
There's masses of evidence for a spherical earth and none that demonstrates it is flat. Thw flat eaeth theory is simply lots of theories and crap to try and argue against the hige body of evidwnce that it is round.
Everyone can use their own eyes - climb a hill and see further than the horizon on the level; go up in a plane and you cam actually see the curve.
The biggest issue with a flat earth theory thoigh (as with all "conspiracy " theories) is what's the point. Why fake loads of evidence to show rhe world is round when for all of us it doesnt matter whether the earth is roind or flat.
