have the Disturbed CD and cover but for me Seether's cover of GM's - Careless Whisper is the best I have ever heard, although I also really like in 2nd place Guns & Roses live cover version of Knocking on Heavens Door. My kind of music :) Seether the best have heard since Led Zeppelin

everyone covers Dylan songs and no one comes close for me, he is so unique in writing and singing style, truly someone who had a great influence on music generally, having said that I just mentioned G&R's above :)

Adele 'Make You Feel My Love.'
The Byrds 'Mr Tambourine Man.'
The Animals 'House of The Rising Sun.' (Dylan had actually covered and reinterpreted this himself as it was an old American folk/blues song}
Jerry Garcia 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door.'
Plus Jimmy Hendrix - All along the watchtower.

Jeff Buckley's cover of Hallahluja always seems to get mentioned in greatest cover song discussions, so i feel like i should continue that tradition.

OPs right though, Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence is brilliant.

I'd like to offer Valerie by Amy Winehouse. So good that some people probably don't know it's a cover.

Edit: I'm not sure this is better than the original, but this Bad Wolves cover of Zombie is pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XaS93WMRQQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also this version of What's up by 4 Non Blondes is worthy of any "greatest covers" discussion.

I think it might be called conversation, at least it may come under that category. Now if you really didn't like pushing your opinions you wouldn't be a member of a chat forum, now THAT comes under the heading of hypocritical.

Incidentally not a major fan of covers but one of my all times is Kirsty McColl's cover of Days by The Kinks. Nearly (but not quite) as good as the original.
