Which players would you like to see added to the squad for next season ?
We have had a superb season whatever happens so we will be sensible for sure and that is right, too many clubs that have been "established" have had that one bad season and got relegated and there could be 3 this season if West Brom, Stoke and Southampton drop.
Can you see players like Vokes and Marney seeking more game time elsewhere for instance ? Looking at the system Sean plays which players would fit the bill to add to the squad in the summer ?

Based on previous seasons i'd expect Dyche to bring in at least one crap Striker

James Milner, Jamaal Lascelles and Florin Andone.
All players I'd like but the first two are highly unlikely based on the clubs they're at and current wages. Just trying to choose ambitiously without being 100% unrealistic and saying Messi or Ronaldo, lol.
Oh and Jota is still a player I'd like us to consider.

on his first half performance at Old Trafford then Jay Rod is head and shoulders above any of our current number 10 options. I'm not one that's has been interested in having him back at the club but he has been superb today

Said Jay Rod all season long would be ideal for us, nothing to do with sentimentality either. He fits our system whether we go 442 or 451 and is ‘different’ to the ones we have.
I would take Dawson from West Brom too as he can provide competition at centre back and right back, and is experienced but still only 27.
Redmond would be a great shout assuming Saints drop. He has had a crap season but I’d love to see what Dyche could do with him.

I bet if Jay-Rod had never played for us no one would ever entertain the idea of signing him.

Amazing how you forget how good he was for Southampton and their fans didn't want him to go.Spijed wrote:I bet if Jay-Rod had never played for us no one would ever entertain the idea of signing him.
Let's apply your thought process to our entire team and we wouldn't field a starting 11

Not sure about that. There have been plenty of threads about signing the better players from the clubs likely to be relegated. Rodriguez seems to have been one of West Brom's better players this season.Spijed wrote:I bet if Jay-Rod had never played for us no one would ever entertain the idea of signing him.

Shane Long.
He can't score, but plenty of people on here have wanted him in the past so we might as well sign him, he can be the crap striker.

He could have Shane Longs scoring record and some people would still want him signed because he's a former player.

Yes, I don't believe he's an entirely realistic target but one can hope! Mind you, how many more seasons does he have playing regular first team football with Liverpool? He's 32 now so not too many I imagine.jedi_master wrote:Milner would be an outstanding signing for us, I imagine his wage demands make that a nigh on impossibility though.

Depends how long he has on that contract I would think but possibly. When you factor in losing Scott Arfield, Milner to me is like a Rolls Royce version of him. He would suit our system perfectly.IndigoLake wrote:Yes, I don't believe he's an entirely realistic target but one can hope! No he's not. I don't understand why people make such claims about players who have played in the PL their entire careers. Near 500 PL appearances and 60+ England caps. He's blatantly not what you're describing. Could you elaborate on why you think he's a crap cart horse?Bertiebeehead wrote:He’s a cart horse, a crap one at that. No thanks.

It's easy for us to rule out players as being impossible but I guess we do have to look forward and look to be ambitious in our signings. I would have considered Lennon a near-impossible signing not too long ago (Defour too perhaps).

Old, slow and well past his best. If he was a horse he’d be shot. Rubbish.

So why has Arfield never played for a better club than us, such as a top six side if he's better than Milner?Bertiebeehead wrote:I would rather have Arfield. **** me, James ******* Milner!
And why has Milner constantly played for teams at the top end of the Premier league if he's not as good as Arfield?

Why has no one suggested Charlie Austin? He plays for a team that is very likely to get relegated. He can score a goal or two - when he's not injured.Sidney1st wrote:In all fairness Jay Rod get links regardless of how he's playing.

And, he played for Burnley a few seasons back.

I'd like Jay Rod to be back at Burnley. He's a good player. He's proving that his injury is behind him. Yes, he's very likely on more money at WBA than Burnley could have offered for this season - but relegation will reduce his earnings by 50%. Burnley can offer more than WBA will next season.

With Europe now all but secure, I imagine that will give us an even better chance of attracting players. I hope this is the best summer so far under Dyche in terms of player quality coming in. It surely will be.

Wood has scored 9 and given the amount of time he was out injured, I presume he should have bagged 15-16 by now. Hardly a bad signing by Sean.
Personally, I’d like to see another really superb striker.

It will be a challenge to afford players better than we already have, unless we get lucky cherry picking from the championship, as we have been upto now.
The bigger challenge will be to keep the best players we already have

Re: Which players would you like to see added to the squad for next season ?
Players who have the humility to fit into our squad and the quality to help us maintain a top-half spot whilst we juggle Europe won't be easy to find.
There aren't too many from the relegated teams that I'd be that interested in though. Maybe a couple from West Brom - I'm a bit doubtful of both Dawson and Rodriguez for different reasons, but I can see the arguments for both too - but I don't know if there's anyone particularly at Stoke or Southampton that I'd want - perhaps Redmond. Both clubs seem to have too many players who are on the way down, or who wouldn't be interested in buying into Burnley or the way we do things.
I suspect we might be doing a bit of shopping in the Championship again, looking towards the best of that division, or perhaps the odd player from the bigger clubs who we can sell the whole "play regularly for Burnley, get your big club move and/or England caps" routine. Loftus-Cheek might be the sort of player who fits into that mould.
But if Ben Mee leaves, then its a talking/organising centre half with a few years experience and who is comfortable on this left side who we will be looking for. That's going to be a tough brief to fill.

That would be James Milner who is currently playing most weeks in a team that is in with a shout of winning the Champions League? I hope that comment about Arfield being better was tongue in cheek!

Absolute garbage. We're all generally looking at the best players from either the teams being relegated or teams that are staying down in the championship. That is our market.Spijed wrote:I bet if Jay-Rod had never played for us no one would ever entertain the idea of signing him.
Obviously a lot mention Jay because he started here and is a Burnley lad. A 100% he would be suggested by some as a potential signing even if there was no history. For what its worth i think he'd add to our squad. Whether he'd provide enough of an option to justify the wage demand ...well that's a call for Dyche. We undoubtedly will need some numbers (and quality) through the door if we are going to compete both domestically and in europe next year.

Clever and has an eye for goal. Probably better than all our players at dribbling too.

If and I know it's still a big if...Southampton go down I think Jack Stephens is a good defender in the making and whenever I've seen Josh Sims in his limited appearances he has impressed. Think those two would be within our budget with lots of potential.

Someone like Kenedy at Chelsea would be an awesome signing. He’s basically elevated Newcastle from relegation fodder to top 10 in the last 3 months.
Then a few hungry young players from the championship and a couple from Europe, then that would be a good mix.
Watched Ziyech today, he is a very good player

Re: Which players would you like to see added to the squad for next season ?
Going to be interesting to see how it goes for us.
Stock is high whether we get Europe or not, given league placing and increased praise in the media. Problem could be with World Cup the deals could generally happen later. Plus we dont have money to throw around to force deals so tend to have to wait until it all pans out nearer the end of the window.
Very likely we won't have many, or even any in place by the time we probably enter Europe. Perhaps that works out well as he gives all the lads who look like getting us there the glory of playing in Europe
The players always speak highly of the environment and squad harmony. Any player we can realistically target who has the right attitude and desire to develop must be looking at us and thinking what a great squad to be part of, I fancy some of that.
