I hope they've improved the San Siro (or Stadio Guiseppe Meazza to give it its correct name) since I was in there in 2006. Looked dreadfully run down then and in need of extensive work.

I'd assume it will be an upgrade on turf moor.

I’m trying hard not to tempt fate by hoping for certain teams whilst we will have 3 rounds to play before we get anyone from a major country, and I’m going back a long time to count the last time we won 3 cup games, I got my hopes up last season before Lincoln did their thing....
....but if I was to tempt fate I would hope for Sevilla or Milan(s). In truth though, if we take it as seriously as a Premier League game that is all I ask. To toss our place away after waiting 50 years would be unforgivable, and I wouldn’t even entertain the thought if it wasn’t for our cup record under SD. Give it 100%, I’d be happy with any draw.

A couple of sides went to the wall completely. Theres an 'excellent' interview with dario srna somewhere online about why he refused to leave despite many offers.

Shakhtar have had some good players recently, they always find some Brazilian gems. Willian, Fernandinho, Alex Texeira, Douglas Costa, Bernard, Marlos, Taison, Fred, Mkhitaryan.

There was no match on, but the whole place looked really run down and in need of some major work. Unbelievably iconic stadium though. These are a couple of pics I took.

The outside was fine. Inside there broken seats, seats full of bird crap. The whole place looked run down and filthy.

Went on a tour last year. Looked pretty dirty but in decent nick. Its industrial looking so probably why it looks a bit dirty and tatty. The most impressive part was the tunnel. Long, narrow, dingy dull concrete corridor. I wouldnt want to have got on the wrong side of Gattuso and had to walk down there.

I hope they'd done something with it in the ten year period before that. It was a shame to be so disappointed with it because it really is a special, unique stadium.

No wonder they started to struggle on the pitch looking at that picture...

Im assuming you are joking with Mkhitaryan given he is Armenian.

I thought it was both. San siro when Milan are at home and Guiseppi Meazza when Inter are at home.

I was confused but was told when we went that its real name is Stadio Guiseppi Meazza who played for both clubs. However, the Milan fans won't use it because they believe he is really an Inter legend. He played 39 times for Milan, scoring nine goals. For Inter he scored 243 goals in 365 appearances so I get their argument.

San Siro is its traditional name, but it was renamed the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in 1980. Meazza played for Inter and Milan, and won 2 World Cups.

Fair enough that. Imagine our stadium being called the Adam Blacklaw Stadium and a groundshare with Blackburn

I’m fully in favour of that name

I said ''Shakhtar have had some good players recently, they always find some Brazilian gems'' then I named some good players they've had in recent years it just so happens that all but 1 were Brazilian so tied into my 2nd point about finding Brazilian gems. Of course I know Mkhitaryan isn't Brazilian

Believe it was refurbed in 2015.
Interesting that despite being renamed in 1980 the new name has never stuck.
