It takes me back to the 90s - teletext to check the scores. The final in 1999 when I was in hospital and must have woke the whole ward when they went 2-1 up in the final. The best manager of my generation.karatekid wrote:Wow. Hope he's OK . Legend.

I wish him well and hope that he makes a full recovery.
A tremendous manager who always got the best out of his players and would not allow them to mess him about. He was always the boss and he ensured that we all knew it, whether we liked it or not.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson - rushed to hospital
News is he has had surgery for a bleed on the brain so I presume a craniotomy to relieve the pressure.
Hope he’s ok it’s a horrible thing to go through

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson - rushed to hospital
I saw on SSN today that Darren Ferguson was missing Doncaster's game for family reasons but thought no more of it.
The good news is that Manchester United have confirmed that the surgery has gone well - hopefully he'll make a quick and speedy recovery.

Hopefully he'll recover quickly and well.
Don't like United at all but Ferguson was an unbelievable manager.
Widely criticised by most football fans but respected and liked immensely by his fellow professionals because of his support and guidance.
Football aside he's had great words of wisdom about life - this for example which I would show to any of my young relatives trying to find the right path in life: https://youtu.be/UXdCfosNvFo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Not too dissimilar to Dyche in the context of values and work ethic etc.

Couldn't stand him for years at Utd.
Got to know a lot more about him through various friends in common.
He turns out to be a wonderful man. A man of his word and absolutely a man of the people.
I wish him the very best.

Hope he pulls through but sounds like it will be a tough fight.
Always had a soft spot for Burnley, apart from when we didn’t pay the bills.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson - rushed to hospital
It really depends upon the kind of bleed he has had. If it is within the brain then as posted above it is likely that the operation has been to relieve pressure and saves life but at a cost. If it is a bleed on the brain"s surface then the outlook could be good.ClaretTony wrote:I saw on SSN today that Darren Ferguson was missing Doncaster's game for family reasons but thought no more of it.

He was a great manager and deserves a good and long retirement so let's hope it all goes very well for him and his family.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson - rushed to hospital
Just read that he was taken to a hospital in Cheshire but was then taken with police escort to Salford Royal which I think is what was previously called Hope Hospital.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson - rushed to hospital
Shook his hand outside Turf Moor before our 0-0 draw when Di Maria made his debut for Utd (not sure if it was Van Gaal or Moyes who was managing them). I simply said “You are a legend and it would be an honour to shake your hand Sir Alex”, he laughed as I had my Burnley shirt on and said “Ha, the honours mine lad”.
Whatever your thoughts are of United/Him he is a footballing icon on a global scale, let’s hope he’s alright.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson - rushed to hospital
I went to a charity dinner at Old Trafford when he was the main speaker. The organiser of our group of ten arranged to drive for AF so he could have a drink, or two. As a result, before the meal, when they arrived, our man brought him to us to introduce us all. The rest of the group were United supporters and stood open mouthed in front of their god. Learning I was a Burnley fan he spent the rest of the time with us talking to me about Burnley. What a good club it was, how the directors disliked rovers ( to put it politely) and how he wanted to be at the next local derby when it could become a bit feisty.
The way he enthused about us totally changed my opinion of him.
He loves football.
He loves winning
