Most sound bars receive audio via Bluetooth and don't send it. To use one to send audio it would explicitly have to support that feature.

Bluetooth has a variety of different ways it can work but usually devices can only send or receive audio, not both.

In this instance it's likely your sound bar is designed to receive audio from a device that sends it via Bluetooth. Not to send audio to another device.

You'd need your TV or sky box to support Bluetooth to use your headphones or to hook up a Bluetooth transmitter.

Has it got any USB ports? It may be possible to get a Bluetooth transmitter that works through USB

I think you are over complicating things. Wouldn’t you just pair your Bluetooth headphones with your Sky Q box?

If I'm right op has bought a Bluetooth sound bar and connecting it to the TV with a wire thinking the Bluetooth part is for connecting the sound bar to headphones when in fact it's for connecting to the TV.

Sky q Bluetooth is for music streaming only.
TV doesn't have Bluetooth
USB Bluetooth devices won't work on TV.
You'll need a Bluetooth transmitter with a 3.5mm or optical input.

What sound bar is it? Just wanna check I've got my facts right.

Something like this should do the job connected to your TVs optical out (or the soundbar may also have an optical out)

One of these plugged into the headphone port of the TV is the solution. £7.99 delivered.

You'll need one with an optical input then.

Maybe also there is a sound bar that does transmit Bluetooth, some AV receivers do.
