Hoping for a Villa win, never been to Villa Park so would hopefully get the chance to tick off another away ground next season.

Would love to see us sign Ben Gibson if Boro bottle it and in the event of a disaster if Mee leaves. Surprised he stayed loyal to them this season he’s a great defender.

Traore for Boro has yet to pass to one of his own teammates! He must be frustrating to watch.

Snodgrass booked for this. Clearly first to the ball, if he gets a second yellow he’ll be peeved.

Hope Pulis has brought plenty of tissues to wipe Bamfords tears at full time.

Awful game with two very average teams.

Even if it wasn’t the goalkeeper didn’t know and has basically made a save outside the area and got a yellow card!

Correct decision by Mike Dean and correct card given, It was just a handball outside the box and there were covering defenders, therefore did not deny a goalscoring opportunity.

I’d class it as a goal scoring opportunity myself.

How sh** and boring were Boro, didn't even attack just sat in and prayed for a scrappy goal, it was like watching a Dyche team 70% of the team.

I don’t think there was any way Terry was getting to the ball. He wasn’t directly behind the keeper and the ball was both travelling at speed and on the upward part of its arc. It would have gone well out of his reach. Had the game been using VAR the keeper would have walked without a doubt.

Referee was in the best position to judge the situation as he was directly behind it, he made his decision on what he saw, not on what any tv replays and pundits make of it. It may be old fashioned, however, the referee's decision is final and, from what he saw, the deicision was correct.
He may also have thought that the ball was on its upward arc and would have been nowhere near the goal. He made the decision from what he saw which is what referees do, in spite of all the various opinions of pundits, fans etc.
From what he saw he gave a free kick and cautioned the keeper for handball outside the box. According to The Laws of the Game he was 100% correct.

Slightly unfair to judge them on their achievements since the 70s; they’ve only existed since 1986.

The keeper made a save, the very definition of denying a goal scoring opportunity! I’ll admit Dean made the right decision based on his interpretation of the situation, but that interpretation was very wrong. Do you think the keeper would have been sent off if VAR was available?

Why should he have been sent off if VAR was available? Oh yes, we would have had 28 replays from every angle possible leaving all the fans who were actually paying to attend the match in doubt as to what the hell was going on.
How easy just to accept that the referee was in a position to give a decision and accept that and get on with the game.

The letter of the law being that a keeper handling the ball outside the box to deny a goal is sent off.

If he’s made the wrong decision then it’s not easy to accept at all. That’s exactly what VAR is all about, correcting wrong decisions that have a major impact on the match. Do you think referees never make mistakes or should be beyond criticism?

I didn't say that they don't make mistakes, however, he did not make a mistake in this particular case.
VAR will be a blight on the game because the people who will not know what is happening will be those attending the games and paying their money to do so.
They will not show things on a screen because they will be afraid of the reaction from some fans. You have to remember that we are talking football here, not rugby, cricket or tennis where fans accept the decisions of referees and umpires. Many football fans do not.

Very true --your opinion says that the referee was wrong, however, in his opinion, he was correct. Is he not allowed to have an opinion --just because he is a neutral referee?
