I lived on Waiheke Island for 11 years but sold up two years ago when someone offered me a footballers salary to move on.

Backpacking was the key really , I spent 8.5 years on the road spread over 3 trips . Stayed a while in one place made some money then moved on , you used to get six month visas for most countries , these days most visas are only 3 months .Clarets4me wrote:I can't make up my mind whether you're in the witness protection programme, on the run from " Interpol ", or a boomarang !! Anyway up, that's mighty impressive ......

Ha ha nice one Tim - The last time I paid any rent was 1979 when I left Colne to drive/guide overland safaris in Africa. I've been in the travel industry for 39 years, 13 as an adventure tour guide, and 26 years as a freelance travel writer and for the last 10 years as owner/editor of a luxury travel magazine . . . for nearly 30 years I've owned homes in New Zealand.
PS: lifelong Clarets supporter since standing on the Longside in the late 60s, but played my football for Nelson Stanley followed by the Nelson Blues 1977-79 Lancashire Combination era.
