I can’t stand him, would have loved to see Brazil leave early too.
They are not guaranteed yet. Lose to Serbia and Switzerland can bin them.

I've never laughed so hard at a football game in my life.

When those two Rican's went down and there were people tending to them, it looked like the aftermath at the scene of a mass shooting with bodies all over the floor.

The ref was good though, he let play go on very well and didn't take much **** off the cheating Brazillians, my only problem was Neymar should have been booked a lot earlier and was constantly allowed to keep diving and berating the ref.

Good reffing overall though, Reckon he'd be top of rate the ref. He should get the final

Neymar was horrible in that game. What a cheating, whinny little sh1t he is. Gutted he got a goal. Then he starts "crying" at the end. He even feigned his fuck1ng tears. What a sh1thouse.

To be fair to him (not that I want to) but the last 15 minutes was a theatre fest of play acting from most of the players. Poor ref had no chance of seeing what was and what wasn't a foul.

I'm loving the WC as a whole but some of the cheating is embarrassing.

I laughed when Southgate said that Loftus-Cheek had "Lovely, soft feet".

Like most of the African teams Nigeria don’t do defending very well so early indications are a win for Icelandisonthe cards.

Gonna be tough for Iceland to get back into this.

Can't see them getting much off Croatia either...

This World Cup just highlights how poor the referees are, every penalty decision they dont give ends up being given on 2nd review

I don’t think any of us ever thought Iceland were a great team but they have done magnificently to reach both the European and now the World Cup finals. The smallest nation ever to have done so. Population the size of Wigan. WIGAN, for god’s sake. The fans also have the best chant and, of course, the team has the best outfield footballer at these finals: Johann Berg Gudmunsson

They've been told to play on and the video ref will pick it up. I don't think they're incompetent or bad, I just think they're waiting to be told to review the VAR. Apparently if they're called over, it's pretty much bang on and the ref just has to confirm it.

If VAR DOES become an ongoing thing I do think it will eventually lead to lazy, sloppy reffing though.

if the refereeing becomes any sloppier i'll expect to see johnny vegas running around with a kebab.

every world cup is the same - refs with an agent strutting around with an ego.

the var has just amplified it. football is lost.

But the referee didn't think it was a penalty otherwise he would've pointed to the spot and then reviewed it like with the Neymar one earlier.

'No standout players for Serbia'

Serbia v Switzerland (19:00 BST)

Frank Lampard

Former England & Chelsea midfielder

"We know a lot of Serbia's players from the Premier League - I think there's a general tenacity about them. They don't really have any standout players but they'll stick together and they'll work hard for each other."

No "standout" players according to Frank Lampard he of "Lampard's Derby" - I thought he was their manager but he's seemingly the new Owner too - . Frank! heard of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic? No. Ok.

Var being useless again. Two players held down the Serbian striker.

A penalty all day long, as clear as day yet nothing!

One of the most obvious penalties you could ever imagine.
Nobody needed VAR to give that.
The Ref should have given it!
But having somehow missed it, his earpiece should have been telling him!
Incredible!

I honestly don't understand the point, what are they looking at? are these professional referees watching in a studio? Putin has Switzerland to win on his accumulator and is stood in the VAR studio with a bazooka unless they're all sat around scratching their nuts and eating doritos.

I have only caught bits of games really, but whenever I have watched any team the amount of playacting is atrocious. Every single time Contact is made players are writhing around. Can VAR not fix that?

Embarrassing. I can't imagine what faces some of these grown men pull when they stand on an upturned plug in the middle of the night.

Switzerland have been fantastic second half. Also think the ref got the Serbia penalty call right, Mitrovic was also fouling defenders.

What a match! End-to-end for almost the whole 90 minutes. Fantastic advert for the game. It showed you don't lots of goals scored to make a top match.

A few points:

1) As mentioned by several Clarets how can you NOT give a penalty for the two-player manhandling on Mitrovic? A total farce.

2) I said to my ten-year-old lad that Krstajic wouldn't have been happy at HT given the Serbian domination. One of the oldest "rules" in the book: if you don't put away your chances...

3) I'm not his greatest fan but fair play to Shakiri. I think his shot that was blocked and made its way to Xhaka was going in. Hit the bar/post with a "blind" shot. And that goal was superb. £12m? Make that £24m.

Goal difference counts, yes? I`m amazed that more wasn`t/hasn`t been made of the Belgians only scoring 3 against Panama. It is a huge opportunity for us to SURELY have a better goal difference than them thus ensuring a draw will guarantee first place in the group. Am I wrong to think we should be hitting 4 or 5 at least against Panama (yeah I know we have been dire for 20 years serially bottle it, disappointment flows through the veins and I`m already preparing for the vacuum of despair soon to envelop me)?

I think because of the teams in Group H whether we come 1st or 2nd isnt as bigger deal as it might have been. Plus with Brazil & Germany not guaranteed to win their groups and Japan and Senegal winning its really unclear whether 1st or 2nd would gave us the best path to the Semi's

By the time we play Belgium it will be more clear and might add that extra edge to the game if coming top matters
