Not having that. He wasn't popular here because whilst he is / was a good shot stopper, he was also pretty poor on crosses and was capable of throwing in some shocking errors.

He also had the misfortune to be up against the cult hero that was the Beast which immediately put some off him.

No, he was unpopular because he got beat by shots you could have dropped your hat on, especially against bloody Leeds.
A good shot stopper, but I always thought he needed glasses, the further out the shot, the more likely he was to fluff it.
That said he did have a good season at Stoke, and I don't hold any animosity for the lad, good luck to him.

Never said he was great but he was a cult hero (most with that title are bobbins) and he fought off many keepers whilst retaining a big status amongst the fans that other keepers just couldn't compete with.

If Grant was "pretty poor on crosses", then Jensen must have dipped his hands in Lurpak
before every game. He dropped more than he caught.

It's odd how goalkeepers sometimes improve late on in their career.

Grant is an obvious one. Also look at Fabianski. Now 33, he looked so error prone as Arsenal's number two and yet he' just had an excellent season at Swansea.

True Grant used to throw the odd one or two in. He was a far better keeper than Jensen though

If he's worked on improving the weaker parts of his game then all credit to him.
I never really took to him as a Burnley goalkeeper, not because of who signed him or because of Jensen.

Grant made worldie saves but struggled to do the basics well, which is where a lot of goalkeepers struggle. Players like Hart, Karius and Mignolet are like this. Thankfully, Pope and Heaton rarely make mistakes and they’ve made some absolute blinders

IanMcL gave him 4 out of 10 for his performance at Watford. The reason he gave was that he failed to save Danny Drinkwater's first minute shot. The bloody shot went wide. But IanMcL hardly ever gave him more than 5.

Had a terrific last season at Burnley when he won all the player of the year awards - was excellent for Stoke too in 2016/17 and won their poty awards.

I certainly wouldn't replace either of our two current goalkeepers with him but I remain very much of the opinion that he didn't get a fair hearing at Burnley for whatever reason. I wouldn't suggest either the manager who signed him or the other goalkeeper we had at the time.

Had a pretty decent career has Grant,not the greatest keeper we have ever had,but he's certainly not the worst,would be a fitting end to his career playing for the biggest club in the country...who would have believed that eh?....good luck Lee.

I openly admit I was not a fan of Lee Grant at Burnley. He did perform miracles against AV in the League Cup and I marked accordingly. I probably gave him some decent marks for other performances. I mark match by match.

As for folk remembering my every mark and thought...Lost for words! Does it matter that much?
