We've moved on from Jayrod and Dawson...

Post by jurek » Fri Jul 06, 2018 12:11 am

...according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Not sure how reliable they may be but they also say we've identified
a different prospective signing for each position.

West Brom were asking for 40m for both and we've gone as far as 30m
and it seems that's our highest bid and we won't go any further.

Be interesting to know if there are other prospective players who they might be?

As much as i think they'd be a good fit. I'd be delighted to hear we've stuck to our guns and not be held to ransom. Id be equally as please to know we havent stuck all our eggs in one basket. Let WBA get on and see how the squad gets on with unhappy players. Im sure theyre both good pros but if they no longer want to play for the club then take the best cash you can get and move on

Got to agree. I would loved to have see Jay come back as much as almost anyone but if we are being held to ransom for a price they aren't worth then we move on.

Neither are young players and 40m if true is just way too much.

If West Brom think they can attract 40 million for the pair of them, then good luck they are deluded, once a club has been relegated any players value will drop,be curious if any other Prem clubs take a punt on either for that asking price as the deadline approaches they may have too reassess their stance.

Its early days (frustrating as they are) and if its genuinely just WBA negotiating hard then fair play. If on the other hand they're pricing them out of the maket so both players are forced to stay then surely thats naive. Squad cohesion counts for more than that. The prime example being us

If West Brom hold out for £40m until near the end of this window both these players will end up as bargains, unfortunately it's not always best to make an early bid.

Still expect Dawson to be a Claret before the window closes

How is it early days? Our season starts in 3 weeks and we havn't made 1 signing. I'd say it's fairly worrying.

Okazaki is going into the last season of his contract with Leicester and looks a good fit as No 10
Also Musa looked good against England in one of the last pre World Cup friendlies
Both have plenty of the pace we are in need of

Okazaki is a great shout. He'd be a quality number 10.

As for the WBA pair I'm not surprised if we have moved on. The only disappointing thing is the fact we even tried to negotiate with them in the first place.

It’s just a case of playing the waiting game now. It seems personal terms have been agreed, just waiting for them to accept the fee. There doesn’t appear to be any other interested parties so WBA will have to stick or twist when deadline day approaches.

To be fair it's not difficult to have some sympathy with the stance of WBA
1. They are desperate to get back into the Premier League
2. Both players are still contracted to the club
3. If they lose these two guys plus maybe others like Rondon they will have a lot of holes to fill so close to the new season starting
