All about pushing De Bruyne forward, completely changed them as an attacking unit. Its poor management not to realise before now that you allow one of the best players in the world to do what he's best at

Hes a decent manager. was at everton as koeman was.
But international managements a lot different. Much more about man management and psycology and both martinez and southgate are clearly excellent in this respect.

Lads, wise up eh. You're punters. The glitz and glam of professional football is worlds away from your salt of the earth sensibilities. Listen, I'm the first one to get a bit carried away with the 'i told you so' mentality. But at the end of the day you're not running a football club. So finish your pint and your pork scratchings and then get home before midnight.
See you on the 26th fellas

Don't think they board backed him enough, they fans never seem happy I think they think there shd be pushing into the top 6 or at least challenging for that there & there abouts, haven't properly replaced Lukaku.
Re: So Martinez wasn't good enough for Everton.
He got it absolutely right tonight. There's no point in asking Hazard to track back because he can't tackle. But he was a precious outlet when the ball was cleared because he can hold it up so well often resulting in being fouled which suited Belgium to the ground. He's melded a team, a real team. It's not easy given their plethora of midfielders and forwards. We saw the De Bruyne who was excellent at City. Fellaini, so often criticised but splendid tonight. They all played so well.

Yes let’s forget he got it wrong second half , and that but for Brazil’s poor finishing Belgium would be outecc wrote:He got it absolutely right tonight. If my nan had b*llocks she would be my uncle, if we finished bottom of the league last season we'd have been relegated.joey13 wrote:Yes let’s forget he got it wrong second half , and that but for Brazil’s poor finishing Belgium would be out

Exactly fine margins,Belgium were minutes away from going home a few days ago,now they are in a semi-final.If they go on and lift the trophy no-one in 20 years will remember their great escape against Japan.bfcjg wrote:And if Pickford hadn't of save a pen and they hit the bar so would we.

Exactly it's here & now we are dealing with, you're only as good as you're last game & right now the stakes are high the margins are very small.tiger76 wrote:Exactly fine margins,Belgium were minutes away from going home a few days ago,now they are in a semi-final.If they go on and lift the trophy no-one in 20 years will remember their great escape against Japan.
Re: So Martinez wasn't good enough for Everton.
He’s been given a chance with a team that has the most talented players weve seen in England in recent years.
You can try play “football” with Wigan and get enough points. Like Eddie at Bournemouth and 17th is success.
The problems start when you go to a club and you need to pick up 3 points regularly. Thats why he failed. Mediocre players cant play “football” and pick points up regulary in the PL.
Anyway. He plays Kompany. They will not win the World Cup.

Knows what he's doing does Martinez, inspired choice of No2 in Henry who can be the communication conduit to the dressing room.
Dave Whelan, he's the bloke who broke his leg in a Cup Final for the uniniated, really likes Roberrrrrrrto.
Comes across as a top bloke.

Spot on. The appointment of Henry was a master stroke.bodge wrote:Knows what he's doing does Martinez, inspired choice of No2 in Henry who can be the communication conduit to the dressing room.

Speaks the language that all of the players will speak between them (English and French) and while the players may question Martinez's credentials they certainly cant question Henrys. And if Henry respects Martinez then so will they. Its massively psychological as an international manager.

Southgate would still be a mediocre club manager, just like Chris Coleman.. As said above, international football is totally a different skill set.

It's possible that the World Cup Final could have two managers who have been relegated from the English Premier League!
Funny old game.
