Re: Phil Bardsley

For the record Bardsley - replaced Lowton for the midweek win at Bournemouth at the end of November, He then had a run of 12 1/2 games over the busy Christmas period during which we played ManU twice, Spurs, Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal from the top six teams (there was also Man City in the Cup. Lowton returned for that game, but didn't regain the shirt for another 4 games).

We recorded 3 wins, 5 draws and 4 league defeats over that period - a total of 14 points. It was a tough time when we lost several key players including Brady, Defour, Ward, Tarka, Wood and Lowton. However we didn't move out of the top 7 during that time.

So, in short Bardsley featured in a significant number of league games over a very demanding, difficult and congested winter period in an under-strength team and helped the Club maintain a 7th position in the league.

A very good contribution I'd say from and honest pro who has the confidence of our manager and who many of the Stoke fans were angry to see leave their club.

Give the lad a break.

He was bought as a backup right back and he’s proved to be an exceptional one IMO.

I agree with one of the posts above that he craves attention....which I find pretty strange when that attention is largely made up of people thinking he is a bit of a pr-ick.

The root of his outbursts on players like Bardsley is his dislike of Dyche. Think back to the posts he used to make before last season. Everything he posted pointed to him being a Blackburn fan and a massive WUM until the story of his Grandad came out and CT confirmed this.

It was only after last seasons success that he was too embarrassed to carry on with his attacking of Dyche and his team but every now and again you would see it come out in his over reaction to defeats or poor performances.

Upshot is last season he just had a lot less to complain about. But at the heart of it...if he is a Burnley fan (and I'm not convinced he is) he is still not a fan of Dyche.....which is even weirder than the attention seeking he craves !!
So why do I love Defour if my dislike of Bardsley is because of Dyche? doesn't make sense at all, I couldn't criticise much last year so I didn't infact I praised most games, my criticism of Bardsley has nothing to do with Dyche, it's all to do with I don't like Bardsley as a player and don't think he's good enough. You say I'm not a fan of Dyche yet i've always praised him for the transformation of the club since he arrived, the only thing I criticised was the style of play 2 years ago. Make your mind up and stop relying on conspiracy theories and wild assumptions.

Bardsley is a perfect reserve full back, he is experienced and when on the bench he continuously supports the lads from the touch line.
Lets hope Sean can bring in another experienced top pro in the Bardsley mould in some other position this season

If I could be ars*ed i’d count up the number of posts you have put on this forum criticising Dyche. It’s not a conspiracy theory or wild assumptions - I would not be surprised if there was more than 500 posts in that one season - you were tearing into Dyche nearly every week.

For next season can we get a function on here where we can take a vote for people to be removed?
Perhaps 1 per week?

I'm sure Phil Malley had a stint at right back, recall him kicking a winger onto the long. Side, . He needs a mention in this debate.

No need for rudeness. It was not aimed at anyone, so no need to make it so.

Went out a day later than the rest, personal business he had to attend to I was told.

Maybe he’s off? Would be a shame as he’s proved to be excellent back up.

Absolutely no suggestion of that. He had a personal matter to deal with and arrived a day later than the rest of the squad. There's absolutely nothing to read into it.

Leebrook, Measham, Parkinson...in fact when you look at it like this..we have had some pretty good solid right backs over the years..maybe with the exception of Leebrook
