I understand it's actually Scots law rather than a club policy. Stems from a match between the Old Firm. I know there were murmurings about it being repealed, though I don't know how far that has got.ClaretTony wrote:I don't think anyone has commented on there being no alcohol at Pittodrie. Wasn’t sure whether it was Scotland or just AberdeenThe Quattro wrote:I understand it's actually Scots law rather than a club policy. Stems from a match between the Old Firm. I know there were murmurings about it being repealed, though I don't know how far that has got.
Re: Supporter information for away game at Aberdeen
It was because of a pitch invasion in the 1980 cup final between the Old Firm that alcohol was banned from football grounds in Scotland. You all saw what happened 2 years earlier on the Turf. Definately drink related. Scottish football had had enough.

Cheers for the history lesson bud. You should get your own YouTube channel where you set the world to rights. Maybe I could be a guest, is that OK?rayzer wrote:It was because of a pitch invasion in the 1980 cup final between the Old Firm that alcohol was banned from football grounds in Scotland. Mate, I lived through the old firm shite when it was at its worst living in Glasgow. I was naked and afraid.
Scotland has had enough of the stain left by the ghosts of the old firms past. We're making a stand against it. Hopefully you lads will stand arm in arm with us on good terms. Like brothers
Re: Supporter information for away game at Aberdeen
Millertime bud!..Ive lived in Aberdeen for over 30 years and have stood arm in arm against the Old Firm(especially the late 80s). I have lived through the history not looked it up.

Does anyone know if the QR code on the ticket contains the ID of the person who bought it ? Since my son went to UNI he and my wife have shared an Adult ticket in her name - so we are in a dilemma as I have 3 tickets but none of them will be used unless I know he can get in with his ID.

Spoke to a City mate who had this at Celtic and they were given the name of a hotel in the City centre to pick their tickets up from, they got this 2 days before the match. He has also been told he will need photo ID at most games he has been too but yet to be asked when entering the ground for it.

Lets hope the hotel has a bar then!
Not sure my nerves could take it if they only announce it two days before though!

Yes. It's rubbish that they haven't sorted this out. Whether that's our club's fault or Aberdeen's (realistically the pick-up point is likely to involve Aberdeen's facilities in some way) I don't know but it's rubbish.Lancasterclaret wrote:Less than a week before the game

Re: Supporter information for away game at Aberdeen
The ticket has no personal information and the QR code, when scanned, just gives you a number.Bobzuruncle wrote:Does anyone know if the QR code on the ticket contains the ID of the person who bought it ? The personal information comes on the authorisation voucher that you will need with your ticket. It has your name, Clarets Number and category and must be shown with ticket if requested. This has to match your photo ID.

All you needed to know was on there.
If not, put your email on and I'll contact you directly, for some reason my posts disappear.
Failing that, I hope someone can give you correct information you need.

Will you not gain entry to the stadium?
Re: Supporter information for away game at Aberdeen
I know there are regulations to be adhered to regarding Uefa, but I dont think you will have half the problems you are anticipating. Ive been on europeann games at Pittodrie for many years and I've never been asked for any ID.

If you have a ticket you will have one, simple as that, because they came together. The voucher clearly says failing to provide it will result in your match ticket being cancelled.MACCA wrote:What happens if you don't have one of those or You lose it ?

Except not let you in. I'm not saying that's what will happen but by your argument, "What can they do at the border if you've lost your passport? Nothing."Eyres_11 wrote:What if you lost your I.D? Nothing they can do tbh.
Re: Supporter information for away game at Aberdeen
Interesting reading all your comments about ID etc for the game.
We have had this carry on for years when following Aberdeen in Europe.
To date having visted the likes of Germany, Spain, Latvia, Holland and Slovenia amongst others, I have never once been asked to confirm my identity in order to gain entry to a ground with a valid ticket. We have however when buying tickets for away legs had to confirm travel arrangements/passport number/accommodation details etc etc.
I sense that this is one of these scenarios however where if you draw attention to yourself with your behaviour in the vicinity of the ground you could be asked to confirm.
Keep your heads down, don't be overly intoxicated and you'll not encounter any issues.
Above all enjoy your visit to Aberdeen and hopefully you'll be sent back down the M6 with your tails between your legs

Not really, I am sure if you have a match ticket and your reciept there isnt much they can do. If you had your wallet stolen for example.thatdberight wrote:Except not let you in. Re: Supporter information for away game at Aberdeen
thanks for the clarification - in that case unless the club helps out (and I have asked and not given up hope yet) there will be 3 unused tickets because I’m not driving up there on the off chance that the authorisation slip isn’t asked for - it’s a shame this info wasn’t available before I bought the tickets online.ClaretTony wrote:If you have a ticket you will have one, simple as that, because they came together. Re: Supporter information for away game at Aberdeen
But that information was supplied with the ticket information clearly stating that whatever name you bought the ticket in
would have to prove ID and be the one using the ticket.
If you have picked up 3 tickets from the Ticket Office you will have the authorisation voucher.
If you haven't then its its your fault for not reading the information given out by the Club.

Re: Supporter information for away game at Aberdeen
the name was on the ticket after they have been bought - this is a ticket my son and wife now share so no reason to believe there would be an issue until the tickets were in our hands. The full info was not available when they were purchased online.Burnleybabe wrote:But that information was supplied with the ticket information clearly stating that whatever name you bought the ticket in
