We could do with a bit of pace and guile i agree, but they cost £££££,look at Richarlison one decent half a season and he goes for 40-50 million,Lennon showed enough the other night to suggest he'll have a good season with the right service, and Brady still has to come back, and we have got JBG,this isn't a priority for me CM and CB would be essentials,as long as no-one else goes out the door other areas we can cope for now.

It will be a sad day if/when Vokes moves on. What a fantastic player he has been for us.

I really don't see us signing Dawson and Mawson is going to Fulham.

If we were going to play this game , we might as well of gone for someone like Aden Flint, who went to Boro for £7million.

Interesting stance you take if someone doesnt cry and moan constantly like a dickhead as you do on here you are automatically a happy clapper ?

Or do you think some might just be capable of waiting for the window to close then judging it

No, that doesn’t make you a happy clapper. Suggesting people who express concern over transfers “go and support another club” makes you a happy clapper. Hope that helps.

I've been reasonably supportive of the club so far this summer and fairly relaxed about the lack of completed moves in the transfer market - because, as I keep reminding myself, we don't need lots of signings (4 ideally, 3 at a pinch, give or take the goalkeeping position) and we appear to have been following a well established, if slightly boring, policy in the transfer market which has served us well.

But...even I'm beginning to get a bit twitchy. Staying true to our first choice signings is absolutely fine, but having got into the last fortnight of the transfer window without having nailed any of them, we're in danger of making necessities out of the virtues of both signing the "right" player, and getting that player for an "acceptable" price.

It may well be that lots of things are now close, and that we've got plans B and C simmering away nicely. But given the lack of positive news - and the links to the likes of Crouch, which would be at the more underwhelming end of "plan B" - its hard to be confident of that right nnow. Even if Crouch is still capable of "doing a job", he's very much in Vokes' mould, and is the very definition of a stop gap these days, so its hardly part of the long-term, evolution of the squad we'd all hoped for.

The next 10 days really is huge. We had an excellent season last time, but the margins are fine at this level and we're not so far ahead of the curve that we can afford to rest on our laurels. The rest of the league has improved and moved on, the 3 promoted clubs have strengthened aggressively, and there's no-one who has obviously struggled for the last couple of seasons who is an obvious tip for the drop (like Swansea were last season). Things have to start moving for us soon, or our own complacency and/or stubbornness could not only put our chances of progressing this season on the line, but risk our Premier League future too.

Convinced complacency has settled into the club and it may be thinking the following at a senior level
-we finished 7th we are not in danger next season
-we are in Europe we can attract most players
-we may have a small squad but we still get by when we have injuries
-we are the envy of most clubs in how we manage our club
-SD will never leave, he is committed to our club and will stand by what we do
-as we get closer to transfer deadline date, those clubs to whom we have made player offers will come back and accept our bids

Time to smell the coffee

Agree. They’ve approached this window with a mentality of just improving numbers, back ups here and there - instead of asking how do we score more goals, for example. Constant significant improvement is needed at this level regardless of where you finish. Clubs below us who had disappointing seasons have reacted/are reacting. We have to evolve.

SGR-I sense this week will be huge for clubs potentially in the bottom half of the PL. I see it like a belting day at the post Christmas sales when panic sets in, largely driven by what their peers are doing ie Brighton, Fulham, WHU, Everton, Leicester (some business done/more to follow)

From what I am hearing or seeing we could be missing out. Yes we may have finished 7th but some of our performances in March & April, plus the last few games ie Bournemouth and Arsenal were dire, making us potentially look like future relegation candidates. What I am now noticing is the most positive contributors on this board starting to get twitchy. And if you want to get really depressed have a look at our PL run in during April & May. We need to hit the ground running in a few weeks when the fixtures have been relatively kind

The news is that there is no news :(

I think even the link with Crouch is a desperate attempt to report on potential signings.

How many of the signings made by Brighton Huddersfield and other smaller clubs would we have wanted??

I would be happy if we can get Jay Rod Dawson and Clucas and Ingsy in

Your memory is surely playing you false about March and April. We beat Everton, West Ham, West Brom, Watford, and Leicester, lost to Chelsea, and drew with Stoke and Brighton. 17 points in 8 games isn't relegation form; even if you argue that we got better results than perhaps we deserved, it still isn't relegation form.

I concede that the two games in May, after our position was decided, were poor. Even then, we were only the 15th side to concede 3 or more against Arsenal at the Emirates; and the Bournemouth one was most definitely sloppy season-over stuff. I wouldn't read too much into those games.
