Istanbul ticket sales
Just been down to sort some other tickets out and asked about salesfor this. Already sold 300 which is bloody impressive imo. Good effort. Thought we would sell 500 tops but looks like we could sell out.
Re: Istanbul ticket sales
Makes it even stranger that we didn't get more tickets. The ground will be half empty anyway so why not give us, say 1200 just to be on the safe side, especially as they aren't sending any tickets over here.
Re: Istanbul ticket sales
Hi cfs,
How many were we allocated?
Cheers

Re: Istanbul ticket sales
878. Which is the minimum required allocation (5%).

Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
This may be a stupid question but what is stopping me buying a ticket (i have enough points) and giving it to a mate as i cant go? Does the name on the ticket need to match the passport? Also, there is an option to buy more than one ticket when i log in. Surely this can't be the case.
Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
You need to provide your passport details when you purchase a ticket and then produce that passport when picking the ticket up in Istanbul. So no, you couldn't get one for your mate.claretlegend wrote:This may be a stupid question but what is stopping me buying a ticket (i have enough points) and giving it to a mate as i cant go? HAHA This is laughable!!!!!ClaretTony wrote:Update: Tickets now going on general sale from 5 p.m. today online and from the ticket office tomorrow morning until they go off sale at 12:30 tomorrow.
Although told anyone panicking that they would easily get one if they want one.
Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
Bit late for the people who decided not to bother booking flights cos they didn't think they'd get a ticket though.
Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
That is laughable
I was up for it last week. I couldnt however get a ticket as a season ticket doesn’t make sense for me to buy. Told work that I don’t need the day off afterall, so now Im working. Wonderful.

Whats going to happen in the next round (if we go through)?
Same situation again?
It was quite clear from the start. We were never going to sell 850 away tickets to a side in Istanbul which frankly non of us had heard off a few weeks ago.

Same for me. Now the flights are more expensive. The club still haven’t confirmed where the meet up point is to make it easier to get a hotel near there. It really is a shambles.Dyched wrote:That is laughable

Unreal.

Anything above 500 is a decent effort I reckon.

£500 in fares & hotel for a qualifying game was always going to be a bit of a killer!

Discussions with UEFA my hairy ar$e. Why is it that all my mates who travel away with Arsenal in Europe never are subject to these discussions?Leisure wrote:URGENT UPDATE: Due to conversations with UEFA and various authorities, Burnley Football Club are pleased to confirm that, for a short period of time, remaining tickets for the game in Istanbul on Thursday will be available to purchase on general sale.

It was obvious last week they wouldn’t sell out. This has now added so much extra cost to flights and travel that it has made a trip I was more than happy to make, unobtainable, and with not enough time to plan.
I thought this was a ‘club decison’? When asked about it last week, they were firm it wouldn’t be changing.
Hang your head in shame Burnley. They need to come up with something better than this should we progress.

Pi55 up in a brewery springs to mind. I’m sorted now as it happens but way more expensive than it would have been. Thanks to the club’s organisation skills. Unfortunately it’s a classic situation of a monopoly treating customers poorly knowing they have no alternative. I mean imagine having to support roooovvvverrrrs.

Give them a break. It’s a massive learning curve for the club as well, and it’s not like they’ve been given a whole lot of time to plan. How are they supposed to gauge what demand will be like for something that’s never happened to us in 50 years?
Just hope the learn from their mistakes ( in case it ever happens again!!!)

Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
It’s not about giving them a break. They have been a premier league club for what will now be the 5th season since 2009. The infrastructure at the club needs looking at and is way short of premier league.
Off the top of my head:
The foundation/lotteries staff are clueless
The foundation is not fit for purpose and yet they still sell benefits that are not available (the product is 20 years old)
The ticket office leave a lot to be desired too given my conversation with them on Friday morning along the lines of “they’re in a meeting, we only qualified last night etc”. Excuse, excuse... We knew who we would play 10 days before qualification and so the people that had been over to Istanbul (prior to us qualifying) should have come back with a full list of details (I.e don’t go to Taksim square before people book hotels in Taksim square). Basic info to help people....
I accept they are learning but some lessons are not being learned. Basic staff training wouldn’t go amiss.

Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
A quick search on the internet and they’ll know fans will have to fork out £500 at the very least to attend. The match is against Istanbul, a team non of us knew existed until a few weeks back. It’s hardly rocket science to know it wouldn’t sell out.scouseclaret wrote:Give them a break. All that was needed was that tickets would be available on Monday if there are tickets left. The balls then in my court and I could of decided on friday whether I wanted to book flights and take the risk that tickets sold out or not.

Not arguing it hasn’t all been a bit of a clusterfock, just trying to cut them a bit of slack for a lack of experience n these matters.
And I have booked a hotel near Taksim Square!!!

Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
How are they supposed to know? I love Burnley and would move to the North West or even to a Burnley postcode voluntarily, but we are meant to be a club which understands their community and is linked to them. A blind man on a galloping horse could see they wouldn’t sell out; whether it’s due to the cost of purchasing a season ticket recently, being school holidays and parents saving all year to take kids away, not being allowed for time off work at 6 days notice, or having a brilliant trip to Aberdeen with travel costs and booze and being left short, or a combination of them all.scouseclaret wrote:Give them a break. It was so obvious, and this is the problem. My posts
on here last Friday will make it obvious that this would be the case. Now granted, as one who feels most slighted by this episode, I’m bound to have a particular viewpoint, but if I can see it, from afar, then how can anyone at the club not? Know your supporters. I say all of this having been burned already on the cost of flights and a hotel for Aberdeen, when it was then made clear I couldn’t get tickets as I expected. This explains my hesitation to book flights irrespective to Istanbul, along with the ‘this is a club decision statement’. Once bitten, twice shy.
Instead, we issue statements saying it is a ‘final club decision’ in the public arena, and then renegade on it when it is too late, and spout that it’s down to ‘UEFA’, which seems to be the go to place excuse.

You did. Some of us like abit more assurance than that. It was obvious they’d be several hundred spare. But we had know idea whether they’d go on general sale, sent back or go to recycling so the ticket staff can have some pretty christmas bunting made.cricketfieldclarets wrote:It's a joke. Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
The club were selling tickets in Aberdeen both in the hotel to anyone who wanted one and also outside the ground. The club has made a little step forward by ending the allocation is a secret rule but still need a fair few more steps to bring ticket selling to modern day standards.
These tickets were always going to go on sale to anyone nearer it got to the game and there were tickets remaining, why they couldn't say this at the start only they know.
Hopefully if we make the group stages and the club has a bit more time between games they can get the hang of this, at the minute it all seems a bit beyond some of them.

It has cost me more than it would have on Friday.
Bear in mind I was told specially by the ticket office on Friday morning that it would be season ticket holders only. Unfortunately, there will be a time when they get it right and I end up not going, after all even a stopped clock is right twice a day....

Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
The problem seems really simple to me and has nothing to do with experience:
- Why didnt the club just announce on Friday that on the last morning, i.e. Tuesday, that they would go on general sale to non STH?
It really isnt that difficult; there was the points and STH priority (correct), there was the STH for a day (OK, fair enough), and then finally the General Sale like every other game.
I was in this situation and I havent booked anything after seeing the ticket details Friday. I live on the continent and it is actually quicker for me to get to Istanbul that come back to Burnley from where I live yet from the info on Friday it was impossible for me to go.Now, it is but that option should have been advertised from the original details to let people RISK or not at their own will (as I would have done as the ticket allocation seemed enough).
I feel very let down by the club in that sense after all the spouting about it for the supporters to enjoy the ride. What a great ride so far!!

Not defending the club though. As it's a joke how they said sts only then did this. As plenty will have been reluctant to book without assurances. I understand that.

The club are new to UEFA competitions and are rightly following their protocol. Once we have been to other places and realised no other team does, they will relax it.
They will learn from the experience and hopefully get better at judging demand.
They will of expected the tickets to go with all the hype but they probably didn't realise the expense of flights to get there.

They were very clear that it was a Club Decision when they said they weren't selling to non season-ticket holders, they re-iterated that a number of times. No mention was made of UEFA rules.Quickenthetempo wrote:The club are new to UEFA competitions and are rightly following their protocol. If they were going to implement a ST holders rule surely the more popular Aberdeen game would've been the one of the two?

The Ticket office is still an area of the club that stinks of being amateur.
They seem to make rules up as they go along.

Yeah and to be fair I think most clubs would do the same with the potential for trouble in Istanbul and not wanting our name dragged through the mud.aggi wrote:They were very clear that it was a Club Decision when they said they weren't selling to non season-ticket holders, they re-iterated that a number of times. Lack of ticket sales and tweets from people saying they have booked flights but have no ST due to living out the area, might have influenced them to act on their feet and change.

Re: 2018/19: İstanbul Başakşehir v Burnley – Ticket Information
I was very surprised we had sold 300 by lunch time on saturday. If we manage 500 for this I’ll be very impressed by our fans.
Time of year with holiday, the extremely short notice to take holidays off work, the extortionate costs to fly, and the restrictions on when and how you can buy tickets had me thinking we might only take 200.
Make a noise if you’re going!
