Atmosphere in the stadium

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Thu Aug 23, 2018 10:33 pm

How was it for all that travelled? Did it live up to expectations. Gutted to miss it, a ground I always wanted to do.

On TV at the revamped stadium it didnt seem as good as it has been there, and I think PAOK, AEK, Aris and Panathanaikos make more noise these days. But no doubt in the stadium it had a proper european feel to it.

Hope all travelling clarets enjoyed it. Especially those who missed either of the previous two.

it was everything I expected it to be. Noisy, passionate and more or less non-stop.

Both ends of the stadium chant at each other, and everyone, literally everyone takes part. Loads of arm waving, screaming, shouting, chanting...... and unfortunately, celebrating.

Pleased I experienced it, disappointed how the result came about though.

As above was a great atmosphere and the Burnley fans fantastic , the Greeks were certainly noisy when they scored though about as intimidating as Mickey Mouse on a bouncy castle .
Had a genuine big euro match feel to it with all the flags and and passion,Greeks took it very seriously and half of Athens seemed to know all about the match and Burnley .
Met the team in our hotel which was fantastic and they all were happy for pics as they got on the coach amid heavy security, SD an absolute gent and TH told us he was buzzing he’d been given the nod .

It was good but I think the Burnley fans were far more impressive.
Very loud when they scored.

A lot of their fans were looking over in awe at the Burnley fans still backing the boys when 3-1 down with a man sent off.

The singing/chanting (defiance) at 3-1 down was great. Not Derby 92 but a good statement nevertheless
