Early post, as I am up and away in the morning. Took me 6 hours on Thursday!
Here's Madge to set us alight, as usual.
Let's blow them away.
Come on you Clarets.

Morning all from a cloudy but warmish morning here in Galway .
Not sure how I feel about today as you would think that United would win with the players they have but as we all know football never seems to pan out as you think it may , lets hope today is one of those days for the Clarets .

I think we are taking United on at a good time. Mourinho is losing his marbles. If we can sneak an early goal we could see him writing on the dugout walls in his own faeces, about how many titles he has won...

If we win, it will be all about José, if we lose, it will be all about José, if we draw....
So it's a free hit, get at 'em early and rattle 'em.

Dreading this game to be honest but it`s a good time for me and let`s hope it`s the same for the Mighty Clarets! Nothing would make me happier for Mourinho to be all over the back pages tomorrow as he storms down the touchline and into the night at around the 75th minute mark, revealing a `nowt I can do with only 600 million quid` t-shirt on his way.
p.s. we HAVE to play Barnes for his aggression and nous especially in the first 15 minutes which will be key to the result.

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
Burnley's only victory in the past 17 top-flight meetings came at home in their first Premier League encounter in August 2009 (D8, L8).
Manchester United have kept a clean sheet in nine of their last 10 visits to Turf Moor in all competitions, with the exception being that 1-0 defeat in 2009
United could win three consecutive top-flight away fixtures against Burnley for the first time.
Burnley
Burnley go into the weekend in the relegation zone for the first time since August 2016. However, they have won three and drawn one of their last four Premier League matches when starting the day in the bottom three.
The Clarets have conceded 14 goals in five league games - one more than in their previous 14 top-flight fixtures combined.
Sean Dyche's side have gone eight league games without a victory since their five-match winning streak came to an end in April (D3, L5).
Burnley's only point at Turf Moor against last season's top six came in a 1-1 draw against Manchester City in February.
Their tally of nine points from 10 home games in 2018 is the third worst among clubs ever-present in the division this calendar year. Only Huddersfield, with eight points, and Southampton (seven) have fared worse.
Dyche is winless in all six Premier League matches as a manager versus Jose Mourinho, with three defeats at home and three draws in away fixtures.
Ben Mee could become only the second player, after Ashley Barnes, to make 100 Premier League appearances for Burnley on Sunday.
Manchester United
United have lost two of their opening three league matches of a season for the first time since 1992. They haven't lost three of their first four league fixtures since 1986-87.
They last began a season with successive top-flight away defeats in 1973.
The Red Devils could equal the club Premier League record of three consecutive defeats, which most recently happened in December 2015.
They have conceded seven goals in their first three league games for the first time in 39 years.
Jose Mourinho has used an unrivalled 22 players in the Premier League so far this season.
Alexis Sanchez has scored four goals in five Premier League appearances against Burnley.

Setting off for the Lounge Bar to join up with the Benalmadena Clarets. Hoping for a win, would be very happy with a draw. Also hope to see something of Vydra and possibly McNeil today. Utc

So rather than comment on McNeil starting, you've gone for the negative. Why?
We are playing Manchester United - have you seen their midfield? You don't play 4 across when you're up against that quality. You put 5 across and bulk it up. Correct decision.

No they've just got competition and need to know it. Lowtons distribution is a cut above Bardsleys but Bardsley did well in the week. Ward has been a bit off it for a few games.

And playing Lowton and Ward would change that? If we started Vokes just for set pieces we'd be seen as negative. People will see a negative with anything.
How about the fact that McNeil is starting? Why are there no positives?

Guess you didn't read all my posts about how McNeil should be starting after the Olympiakos game etc then. I was commenting on what someone else had put, I also said during the week that Matic and Fellani would start as they always do against Burnley. One of them will sit on Wood at every goal kick and we wont get out of our own half with just Wood on his own if previous games are anything to go by. I hope I'm wrong, I'm delighted DM starts for sure.

So, what's the game plan? Keep it tight and defensive for 60 mins, then bring on Ashley and Sam and Vydra to shake it up in the last 30?
Or, start quickly and grab a goal - and don't concede?
Excitement mounting....

But that makes me more surprised you didn't comment more positively when the lineup came out.
I'm not normally excited when the lineup is announced, but I am today. Taylor has looked better than Ward and Bardsley has perhaps earned his starting linup. Morale is a massive thing to consider when being a manager and he deserves a crack.
5 across midfield makes complete sense against one of the best teams in the world.
No complaints from me. I hope we go at them as we have the juice in the tank to score.

Well it can't be defensive. Otherwise McNeil wouldn't be starting - it would be Ward and Taylor.

I'm not complaining Frank ffs, I only stated that Utd had a HUGE height advantage and they will cause us major problems from set pieces. I didn't particularly comment on our starting line up, i'm just very surprised Dyche isn't playing two big forwards given the predictability of the Utd team

No problem with mcneil starting, it's up top that I'm worried, should be vokes and Barnes up top.

But we're playing Man U. We need to pack the midfield and match them. 4-4-2, as you're suggesting makes a weak midfield. A midfield that would be simply overan.

Brighton battered Man Utd by getting in their faces, IF we do that we can win with the 4-5-1 as Brighton did. If we don't then we pretty much need to bypass our midfield and cause their shaky defence problems. Just because someone see's something tactically different to you doesn't mean it's a criticism Frank - let's hope Dyche has it spot on !

I think if we're going to bypass the midfield, we might as well go 4-3-3. But I think McNeil offers something different. Something that a supportive midfield alongside him will help. 4-4-2 would put more pressure on his shoulders so I really do think this is the way to go.
Let's do this!
