Perhaps we should hire Belgianclaret to be our head of European scouting

The old scout team signed Penny, van der Schaaf, and Guerrero. The new one didn't. The old one wasted many, many millions - the new one didn't.

There's two aspects to scouting. Not signing the good players is one of them, and it's important, and that's where our overseas scout team isn't succeeding at present. But the other aspect is in not signing the duds, the black sheep, the wastes of space - and in that, we've been successful.

Faint praise maybe, but we're definitely improving.
That’s an unusual way to look at it by comparing to signings from nine years ago. Comparing against Penny et al, it’s improved, though it would be an improvement had we signed no one from abroad, after those transfers.

The club could use the football manager database and get a better idea of players abroad.

I can't really see how it's ever going to be possible to obtain background info such as whether a player goes home to his wife or kids or hits the casino when players play abroad.

How about we hire an exchange student to spend a couple of weeks with their family?

Or get a few partnerships with clubs abroad to raise our profile elsewhere?

If Dyche played it he would even have the realism of a virtual Mike Garlick giving him no money to spend :D

#edit

I've just realised what our European scouts really do...
