Thanks for posting that. My grandad was a flight engineer on the Halifax. Imagine being 19 years old doing what those boys did.

My dad was an air gunner, later air bomber, in Halifaxs (35 and 158 Squadrons), then a navigator in Lancasters. I once asked a historian of his squadrons if there was anything notable about his wartime career and he said 'no..... except he survived'.
