Hey, hey!!! A new contributor from the country of my mother's birth, Danmark. First of all "Welkommen". I've been waiting a long time for somebody who is "dansk" to join this group. I hope you enjoy it at least half as much as I do. My mother was born in Frederikshavn, and I still have family that live there. Also in Aalborg, Hobro and Velje. What part of the country do you live in? Please don't say Kobenhavn, because my grandmother used to say that the ones from there weren't real Danes. But, of course, you've heard this all before. It would be great to hear back from you. Tousand tak. (You can probably tell that my Danish isn't very good.)

It's actually Vejle, and "Velkommen". I told you my Danish was very bad.

Good evening Ontario Claret.
I do also have relatives in Aalborg in fact my wife and youngest daughter went to visit them three weeks ago.
I live 20 miles north of Kobenhavn in a town called Hillerod,it is about half the size of Burnley.
I am going to Turf Moor for the first time when Burnley play Newcastle on the 26th.
I have only seen Burnley once before and that was against Arsenal last year in London.
I am actually not a Burnley fan,i just like to visit many different clubs when i come over to England 3 or 4 times a year.
When i come over in late November i have 5 matches planned so that will be great.

Hi BurnleyDenmark,

I was at the Emirates for that game and we were murdered. But the big six are on a different level even Arsenal.

I hope you have an enjoyable night on the Turf, night matches there are magic. I have posted my itinerary for that night on the Texas thread, you should have a beer in the Bridge and make it a Moorhouse's, it is good beer and amazing value at £2.10 a pint. Which other games are you attending?
Hope you have a great visit.

Hillerod is the home of the Louisiana art museum. I've been there. Welcome on behalf of the good contributors to this site, who are in the vast majority. Hilsener!!!

No problem,BD. I haven't seen a live game at The Turf since 1989, in the dark years of the old 4th Division. Despite that mind-numbing 0-0 result against Aldershot, I've never lost one iota of my love for the club or their tremendous supporters. By and large top blokes who never think twice about loving their club (actually there are 1 or 2 who I wonder about, but I won't name them). I imagine that you feel the same way about Fulham. Who is your favourite club in Denmark? Is it Brondby, or maybe Lyngby? I used to go the FFK (Frederikshavn) games when I lived there in 1980, and they played in the 2nd Division. Sadly, they've been in the kreds for some time, and may never get out. Ever since they built the Sound bridge, Vendsyssel has become economically disadvantaged, and no more DSB or freight service. 30-40 carloads of fish that were shipped daily from Skagen now go by sea, and 2 rail-sea loading ramps at Frederikshavn and Hirtshals are now defunct. Very sad.

I can not imagine how much you must be looking forward to your trip, that is a very long time since you have seen Burnley play live.
I started to support Fulham back in 2000 when i moved to London.Fulham played in the Nationwide at that time.
I had a season ticket in the Hammersmith End and in 2002 we moved back to Denmark.
I am lucky that it is only a 2 hour flight to England so can still see them live.
There has been some great trips through the years, espically in 2008 on the last of day season in 2008 down at Portsmouth needing a win to stay up,the Europe league final in Hamburg against Atletico and off course last seasons play off final at Wembley.Plus many more up and down the country.
My Danish team is Brondby but i do not go to see them live anymore.
When are you flying to England and do you have other plans than Burnley ?

I'm not coming to England in the foreseeable future. I had hoped to come in January (Burnley have a home game against Fulham then), but things have not worked out as I hoped they would. My father's family came to Canada in 1824 from a place near the Cumbria-Northumberland border. I hope to move back there some day. My family name is very unusual for England. It is "Vipond". For a long time I wondered where such a name came from. With the help of the internet, I discovered that we came to England with William the Conqueror, who, of course, had family roots in Normandy. The Normans were really Danes, who had conquered that part of France in the 8th and 9th centuries. So, I'm really Danish on both sides of my family. My father was blond, like many Danes. Vipond comes from "Vieuxponte" (old bridge in French). So, if I was Danish, I'd be "Gamlebro". It has a ring to it.
