Re: Films/Movies..
Depends what you're looking for from films tbh.
The new Robin Hood film isn't for the deep thinkers, but it's not a bad way to pass some time if you've got teenage kids.

I think some very good movies will be out next year.
IT (Stephen King), Chapter 2, although not as good as the original back in the 90s, is out in September. Quite a few others.

CGI and 3,000 camera shots a second has made a lot of them unwatchable.

New Laurel & Hardy film coming out soon - Steve Coogan and John C Reilly.
New Sherlock Holmes film with Will Ferrel and Reilly.
Think they are both out soon.

They are made to be 6/10 so they have a general consensus of being 'alright'
There are plenty of movies out there that some people will love, others will absolutely hate - they polarise people...
Why bother with going through extra effort to make a movie which could end up splitting opinion massively when you can just pump out another standard action film with the Rock & co.

I just find myself rewatching movies from the 80s 90s and sometimes early 2000s.. Beyond that, very little interests me.

Re: Films/Movies..
Animation is cheaper.
CGI means all fight scenes are crap. To quick for the eye to follow, ditto car chases.
Lack of great writers.
As above I stick to oldies or foreign language. At least they tell a story.

Re: Films/Movies..
Most films to look forward to are all re-make money spinners. There’s not much original artistry in film anymore in main stream cinema. It is the same with a lot of things in our cultural desert that is the U.K.

Re: Films/Movies..
Tarrantinos new one “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” is one I can’t wait for.
Re: Films/Movies..
And "Lord of the Rings" wasn'tNesnajttam wrote:Why are most so crap nowadays? Seen a trailer for the new Peter Jackson film.. 'Mortal engines' or something.. What a bloody stupid concept..
And "Mad Max" wasn't
And "Star Wars" "Star Trek" etc etc its fiction Matt...

The books are very popular .... I for one wished they had gone on to follow up Philip Pullman's "Golden Compass"
It will either sink or swim but with Peter Jackson at the Helm its git a good chance.

Has anyone seen the film Her? Man falls in love with his computer. Bloody stupid concept, right?
But then you craft a lean script, cast the second best actor on the planet in your lead role, bit of nice cinematography, a sound design that fits the film's tones and themes, give it a lean edit, and wallah!...one of the best films of the decade.
Never judge a movie on its premise. Like all art forms it's all about the craft. There's a tonne of good stuff out there if you look for it.

Most recent modern day films I've watched where the two raved about space movies.. The martian.. And the one with Sandra bullock.. Both bored me to tears.. Call that entertainment? Dreadful special effects based pap.
As for the peter Jackson film? More of the same .. CGI crap.. Might as well watch a video game.
