Sounds Of The Sixties
I've been trying to think of a few songs from the 60's that we made into footy chants on the Longside back in the day.
Just a couple to start with:
Sha La La La Lee - Small Faces
Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye - Steam
Anyone add to these?
Fairly simple songs but easy enough to make into chants.

Tiptoe through the Longside
Get your boots on
Get your head kicked in
So....
Tiptoe through the Longside.
With me...
Sounded much better than tiptoeing through the tulips

Come on without, come on within, you'll not see nothing like the mighty Flynn. Not sure who sung it.

Trying to suggest a few for some lads on Turf Moor Loyal, their repertoire usually consists of 'Come On Burnley'
Obviously we had the best songs to choose from back in the day.

Just like Eddie (Heinz)

Whenever you're sad
Whenever you're blue
Whenever the Clarets are playing
In league or cup
We'll fight like phook
To keep the a Clarets flag flying
Surprised this one has never been revived as it's such a catchy tune to sing and all the ground could join in..

Claret forever is Bob on "Onward Christian Soldiers"Juan Tanamera wrote:Claretforever, that was sung to the tune of 'Land Of Hope And Glory'
Original version was "Lloyd George knew my Father"
Also its actually quite amazing how many "Hymn" tunes are used in football songs... but as many hymn tunes are used in different hymns with different words its actually not that surprising really.

There were a few songs sung to the tune of the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine". "We all p!ss in a blue and white pot", colours changed dependant on whom we were playing.

70s I know but singing “Who’s your father shagging now” to Mick Doc, when he’d signed for Sunderland, tickled me.
